Traveling to Our Cultural Roots with Music

Join us at the Sharon Forks Library as we celebrate some of the cultural diversity that helps make Forsyth County such a vibrant and interesting place to live. Students from Corina Brito Violin Studio, LLC, will offer a short presentation about their own cultural roots, followed by a performance of a musical piece.
Learn how to draw an Anime or Manga portrait in five steps! During this class students will have a brief introduction to the Japanese art form known as Anime or Manga. Students will learn the traditional facial proportions for anime drawings and three ways to color a finished drawing. Your child will be astonished by the bright, bold colors in their completed portraits!
This program is for elementary aged children and will take place in Zoom. Registrants will receive a meeting link 24 hours prior to the event. The supply list you will need can be found here.

Diwali is a five-day Hindu festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-November. The festival is also known as the "Festival of Lights." The holiday is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains worldwide, including in the United States of America. We welcome all to join us for an afternoon of learning and crafting.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is often hailed as the first science fiction novel. Even though the novel is about the creation of life, discussions of Frankenstein often focus on galvanism, electricity, and chemistry. Learn about the theories that were prevalent in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and how to apply them to Mary Shelley's depiction of Victor's creation of life. You will also learn about Mary Shelley's own experiences and the influence that the deaths of her young children had on her most famous novel.

Learn to paint this dramatic watercolor inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's narrative poem "The Raven" to get into the Halloween spirit. No previous experience with watercolor painting is needed.

Book Buzz is a presentation-based book club. Homeschoolers share a book report in the style of their choosing while honing their presentation and public speaking skills. The theme this month is: Nonfiction.
The Suitcase Series is a multidisciplinary exploratory program. During this session there will be a short library-led presentation that features a new country each month. Afterward, the homeschoolers will cycle through related work stations to learn even more! The itinerary this month is: Traveling to Cuba.
