Tracey Varrone of the Brick and Ivy Studio will lead a storytime presented in American Sign Language and English, where children can explore books, fingerplays, rhythm activities, socialization, and more! Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are invited to listen to stories and create simple crafts designed to accommodate a range of abilities. This month we will be reading stories about colors, learning how Crayons are made and making colorful waxed paper suncatchers!
Dr. Anita Turlington will discuss “monster theory,” the concept that we invent monsters to embody our anxieties and fears. Thus, monsters change and evolve as our anxieties and preoccupations change. This program will consider the novel Frankenstein through the lens of monster theory to ask what contexts influenced Mary Shelley’s invention of this iconic character.
