ANNOUNCING: An Evening with Liz Moore

Our 2026 Forsyth Reads Together Author

We are thrilled to announce our 13th Forsyth Reads Together author and book selection: Liz Moore, the #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of The God of the Woods.  

Please save the date for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. when Liz Moore will speak and sign books at the Forsyth Conference Center.

Registration for this event will open on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. 

What was your favorite book this year? 

Help us create a "2025 Patron Favorites" book list for our community. Tell us your favorite read of the year and we'll share the list we compile in an upcoming newsletter. 

COMING SOON: The Winter Reading Challenge

Are you ready to level up your reading this winter? Join our Winter Reading Challenge later this month and push yourself to meet your reading goals with motivating prizes for all ages. 

The Winter Reading Challenge begins Friday, December 19, 2025, and runs until Monday, January 19, 2026. 

Children up to 5th grade can earn buttons for reading and visiting libraries. Teens and adults can win stickers and a coupon to the Friends Bookstores. All ages will receive entries into the grand prize raffle drawings! 

Registration opens December 19 in Beanstack. 

DECEMBER READS

December 16, 2025, marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth (1775–1817). Her timeless novels gave us unforgettable characters, sparkling wit, and enduring stories of love and society.

To celebrate this monumental anniversary, we asked one of our resident Jane Austen experts, Melissa Gunter, an Information Specialist at Cumming Library, to recommend some Jane Austen-related reads:

NEW AT FCPL: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution 

Only available on the Library's computers or network

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) is scheduled to publish its final print edition on December 31, 2025.

FCPL cardholders can now access premium digital content in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, including the digital paper, series exclusives, blogs, and podcasts, from personal devices when connected to library Wi-Fi or from a library computer.

'Tis the Season at FCPL!

Whether you're looking to learn the history of various holidays, get your holiday crafting on, or experience the sounds of the season for the best price in town, Christmas at FCPL is all that AND MORE this year.  

Storytime with a Nutcracker ballerina? We have that. 

Want to make a gingerbread house (and not have to clean up the aftermath)? We got you!

How about a winter violin serenade, festive handbell music, and a cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie-inspired live improv performance for adults? Yes, yes, and yes. 

And let's not forget Storytime with the beloved Mrs. Claus, our popular Holiday Puppetpaloozas, and a Sensitive Santa opportunity for children with sensory or other special needs. 

And that's not even everything.  

Our lineup of holiday programs promises to make your heart grow at least two sizes or your money back. 

Get Ready to Make a Temperature Scarf!

Learn about the popular temperature scarf and blanket trend among knitters and crocheters! This event will go over what they are, how you can adapt this idea for other mediums like quilting, and how you can start early and get organized for your project in the year ahead.

The Princess and the Butterbean

The classic Hans Christian Andersen tale of a kingdom in search of a “real” princess gets a Southern-fried makeover in this warm and witty, one-of-a-kind adaptation. Prepare to be amazed, astounded, and awed by puppetry magic.

Event passes will be handed out 30 minutes prior to the program.
