We've officially wrapped up our Summer Reading Program! We hope you had as much fun as we did. Thanks to everyone who tracked their reading on Beanstack, came to a program, and visited the library. And a BIG shout-out to the Teen Volunteers who helped make our children's program such a success!
As summer winds down, we’re gearing up for all the changes that come with the start of school. August may seem like a quiet month at the library, but the Youth Services staff is busy scheming and dreaming and planning for the fall. What would you like to see from the library in the coming months? August is a great time to let us know!
This newsletter includes our teen programs for the remainder of August and some announcements and reminders for the upcoming months.
NEWSLETTER UPDATE:
We'll be back to our regularly-scheduled once-a-month emails beginning with our September newsletter. Starting in September, the teen newsletter and calendar will be for grades 7-12. Programs for grades 5 and 6 will be moved to the children's newsletter and calendar. When we have programs that include both age groups, they will be included in both newsletters and both calendars.
The Massachusetts Teen Choice Book Award (MTCBA) invites students in grades 7-12 to vote for their favorite book of the year. Through the end of August, anyone going into grades 7-12 who reads a book from the MTCBA list of nominees can pick out a free book from our stash of prize books! Just come to the library and let us know what you read. (Listening to the audiobook totally counts.)
And don't forget to vote for your favorites in September!
TAB meets on the second Wednesday of the month to make plans for library programs and the Teen Space (and to eat pizza!). TAB members earn community service hours for their participation. If you would like to join, pick up an application from the Children's Desk or contact Evan directly: edelano@agawamlibrary.org or 413-789-1550 ext. 3. The first meeting of the school year will be Wednesday, September 11th from 6:00pm-7:00pm.
Get Ready For Library Card Sign-Up Month!
Looking ahead to September...
Teens who sign up for a library card OR update their expired library card during the month of September can pick out a free book (to keep!) from our stash of prize books! Once you get a library card or update your card at the Circulation Desk, find a Youth Services staff member (Evan, Izzy, or Pamela) to claim your prize.
