Visit the library at the City’s annual Arbor Earth Day Celebration! Join us Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Thousand Oaks Community Center Park (2525 N. Moorpark Rd., next to T.O. High School) for this free, family-friendly spring celebration. Stop by the library booth to say hello while enjoying electric vehicles on display, kids’ activities, live music, food vendors, a plant giveaway, free compost, raffles, and more. It’s a great day to celebrate the planet and connect with your library!

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear her talk about the shape-shifting foxes of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean literature, the cult of the fox in northern China/Manchuria, and the inspirations behind her work. This event is FREE. Seating is first-come, first-served.
This special event is the culminating celebration of Thousand Oaks Reads: One City, One Book, our community-wide book club. Looking for a fun way to give back this summer? We’re seeking enthusiastic, friendly teens to help make the Summer Reading Club (SRC) a huge success. With flexible shifts throughout the summer, it’s a great opportunity to support your library and community while building customer service and teamwork skills. Apply as soon as possible!
Requirements: • Ages 14-17 (Grades 9-12 in the 2026-27 school year)
• Friendly, helpful, eager, and reliable
• Attend a Volunteer Orientation Training
• Complete a minimum of 20 volunteer hours between June 15 – August 3
Make new friends, gain valuable experience, and help keep the community reading all summer long! |

Let your creativity shine in our Bookmark Design Contest! Pick up an official contest form from the library and design a unique bookmark inspired by the 2026 Summer Reading theme: Plant a Seed, Read! Open to all ages, from Kindergarten to adults, entries must be submitted on the official form by April 30, 2026. Check the form for rules and details, then grab your supplies and start designing!
