Little Explorers
Monday February 3rd at 10:30am
Explore and play with us at the Greenwood Public Library!  Children ages 2-5 and their caregivers can stop by and try out a variety of fun activities together.  There will be things like hop scotch, a balance beam, magnetic fishing, play dough, sensory bins, and magna tiles for all to enjoy.  This program is designed to develop socialization skills, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills in young children that will prepare them for success in school.
Let's Build!
Monday February 3rd at 4pm
Kids of all ages are welcome to come and build together on Monday, February 3rd from 4:00-5:00pm!  Legos, Duplos, Mega Blocks, Magna Tiles, wooden blocks, and cardboard blocks will be available to choose from. This program is designed to encourage imaginative play and teamwork while contributing to a foundation for early mathematical concepts.
Debate Workshop
Tuesday February 4th at 5pm
Interested in debate? Teens/tweens age 10-17 are invited to the Greenwood Public Library on Tuesday February 4th at 5pm, to learn the basics of debating, and participate in a simple formal debate. For more information call 302-855-1242. No registration required. UPDATE: Registration is open but not required. If you were not present at the first workshop but would like to participate in the debate, please register so we have your email and can send preparatory materials.
This program is designed to encourage public speaking, strategy, teamwork, creativity, civil discourse and critical thinking.
 
Learning to Breathe -with Courageous Hearts
Wednesday February 5th at 4pm
Gain skills in meditation and grounding techniques designed to provide tools that are memorable and fun to practice!  On Wednesday, February 5th, kids ages 8-10 will meet from 4:00-4:45 and kids ages 11-13 will meet from 5:00-5:45 at the Greenwood Public Library.  Registration is available at greenwood.lib.de.us.   For more information, please visit our website or call us at (302) 855-1242.

Story Time
Thursdays at 10:30am
Join us with your little ones at the Greenwood Public Library on Thursdays at 10:30am for a fun morning of stories, songs, and crafts. Story Time is recommended for children ages 2-5.  Story time provides an opportunity for young children to learn important social, emotional, and intellectual skills that will prepare them for success in school.
Crochet Together!
Thursdays at 1pm
A group will be meeting weekly on Thursday's at the Greenwood Public Library to crochet. Anyone is welcome to bring their own supplies and crochet together!  
Read to the Dogs
1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 4pm
L.E.A.P. (Literacy Education Assistance Pups) Program – Read to the Dogs - is free and open to children of all ages. Come in to practice your reading and have a tail-waggin’ good time! L.E.A.P. sessions will be held at the Greenwood Public Library on the first and third Thursdays of the month. No registration is required; just come to the Greenwood Library any time between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., choose a 4-legged, tail-wagging reading partner, and enjoy a good book together. Books are provided.
This program is designed to foster a love of reading, promote the habit of reading, supplement formal education and improve social, motor and listening skills amongst our youngest patrons.
Teen Heart Decorating Contest
Begins Friday February 7th and ends Friday February 14th
Decorate your own 11" flat wooden heart! The theme is a book or character that you love. Pick up your kit with all supplies included (first come first serve) at the Greenwood Public Library on Friday, February 7th, and return your completed heart by 4:30pm on Friday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day) to enter our teen's contest.  Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners, and winners will be notified on February 18th!  Hearts will be displayed in the library until Thursday, February 27th when they can be picked up to take home.  All teens’ ages 12 and up can participate. Pokemon TCG
Monday February 10th at 1pm
Bring your best deck to the Greenwood Public Library on Monday February 10th at 1pm to compete and trade with others in the Pokemon Trading Card Game! Inappropriate language and behavior will not be tolerated. Ages 10-17. For more information call 302-855-1242. No registration required.

Sewing Arctic Animals
Monday February 10th at 4pm
Join us at the Greenwood Public Library on Monday, February 10th from 4:00-5:30pm for a fun evening at the Kids Art Factory. This month we will be sewing arctic animals.  This activity is designed for ages 8-12 but ages 5-7 may participate with parental help. This program is designed to empower community members to tap into creativity, artistic literacy, and expression while also creating opportunities for positive social interaction, idea exchange and relaxation.
 
Bound by Books Book Discussion
Tuesday February 11th at 1pm
Participants come together once a month to discuss various types of books at the Greenwood Public Library. The book to be discussed on Tuesday, February 11 @ 1pm will be The Women, by Kristin Hannah. Pick up your copy at Greenwood Public Library.  No registration is required. Gentlemen and Scholars Book Club

Join the Gentlemen and Scholars Book Club at Amity Coffee Roasters on Tuesday, February 11th at 5:30pm. This is a club for Gentlemen & Scholars ages 18+ to discuss books and such. Books are available at the library. This Month we will be discussing the controversial graphic novel "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi. Copies will be available at the library.

Building Bonanza

Calling all creative minds at the Greenwood Public Library on Monday, February 17th at 4:00pm for a building bonanza!  Kids will be able to rotate through stations and experiment building with different types of materials in this program.  This program is geared toward children ages 5-12, and families are welcome to join us.  This program is designed to give learners a deeper understanding of the world around us, and to develop curiosity, innovation, and resourcefulness through exposure to topics of science, technology, engineering, or math.

Tales From the Vault- Delaware Archives
Tuesday February 18th at 5:30pm
Join us on Tuesday, February 18 @ 5:30pm for a must hear presentation by Dana Niemeyer from the Delaware Archives. Four little known stories discovered in the Delaware Archives are brought to life with time for audience participation.

Bookworm Buddies
Monday February 24th at 4pm
Get together to read, talk about books, and do fun activities that go along with them on Monday, February 24th from 4:00-5:00pm.  This month's book is 'Sir Ladybug' by Corey R. Tabor.  Copies of the book are available at the Greenwood Public Library. The suggested age range for our Bookworm Buddies book club is 5-7 and is well-suited for kids who are beginning to read, although being able to read is not a requirement.  This program provides an opportunity for young readers to develop literacy, critical thinking, and foster social interaction.
 
Creative Writing Workshop w/Keith Bosco
Tuesday February 25th at 5pm
Come to the Greenwood Public Library on Tuesday February 25th at 5pm, where children's book author and publisher, Keith Bosco, will be hosting a creative writing workshop for Teens and tweens.  Registration is not required. 10 seats are available, first come first served. Do you enjoy writing fiction or poetry? Join us at the Greenwood Public Library on Tuesday, February 25 @5:30 to meet with likeminded individuals who also enjoy composing prose.  All are welcome whether seasoned writer, published author, amateur writer or just enjoy dabbling in writing.
