Senior Fraud Class | Wednesday, January 22 |
12:30 PM | Lynnfield Police Department - Representatives from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts and the FBI and IRS Boston Division Offices will provide an information session on the financial exploitation of elders.
As part of the U.S. Department of Justice Elder Justice Initiative, the goals of this outreach event are to enable community members to recognize, stop, report, and help prevent fraud on elders. Information about current and evolving scams, schemes and frauds, and why older adults are disproportionately targeted by fraudsters, will be addressed.
Practical steps for helping to protect yourself or family and friends from becoming victims of these crimes will be provided. In 2023, over 800,000 older adults submitted a report to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), with potential losses exceeding $3.4 billion.
For additional information regarding the event, please contact the Lynnfield Senior Center & Council on Aging at 781-598-1078 or e-mail Captain Chris DeCarlo at cdecarlo@town.lynnfield.ma.us. | |

Count the Kicks! |
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is excited to enter its third year promoting the Count the Kicks campaign! Count the Kicks is a mobile app that helps pregnant parents track their baby’s kicks and fetal movements to help prevent stillbirth.
Through the campaign, DPH aims to reduce the Massachusetts stillbirth rate by 32%, which would save 91 babies each year across the state. By providing easy-to-use resources, community outreach, and educational support, the Count the Kicks campaign aims to prevent stillbirths and help expectant parents and families have a healthy pregnancy. |
