The Summer Reading Challenge
Prize Store Is Officially Open!
  • You can now claim your Summer Reading Prizes!
  • You can do this by logging in to READsquared, finding the prize store, browsing the prizes, and "buying" a prize of your choosing for 250 points! Each patron may claim up to 8 prizes total this summer.
  • Prizes will be prepared once each week. Due to the Independence Day Holiday, prize orders placed by Wednesday to be available for pick up inside the library beginning on Saturday.
  • For every following week, prizes ordered by Wednesday will be available for pick up inside the library that Friday.

Upcoming Event: Escape the Death Star Puzzle 
Saturday, July 19
 
Your team has been captured by Darth Vader. He suspects that your team are Rebel spies (which you are). He has brought you to the Death Star. The jail cells are full, so they have locked you in a Storage/Repair Closet. You must ESCAPE before they move you to the detention level where Security is much greater. --- May the FORCE be with you!
 
Puzzle solvers ages 9+ are invited to do your best to ESCAPE THE DEATH STAR as a team of up to five (let us know if you have additional young jedis who want to come too). No previous Star Wars knowledge required. Open to families, teens, and adults.
 
There will be two sets of puzzles, one in Room A, and a different set in Room B. Make sure to have your whole group register for the same room (A or B) at the same time slot. If you would like to do both sets of puzzles, you may register for different rooms during different time slots.

STEM Camp is Back!
 
We are partnering with Curious Minds to offer a fun-filled summer STEM camp at LTPL on August 15th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st.
 
Ages 9 - 12 only. Due to limited capacity, students may register for up to two days only.
 
Students are expected to bring their own lunch each day. A light packaged snack (nut-free) and water or juice will be provided, courtesy of the library.
 
LTPL is paying half of the material cost for each child. To cover the remainder of the cost, there is a registration fee of $15 per child per day. Seats are limited to a first-come-first-served basis.
 
The schedule for each day is as follows:

Themes for each day
On Day 1: explore the brilliant world of logic and programming.
On Day 2: unlock our inner creativity and ingenuity by learning about engineering.
On Day 3: learn how some of our favorite gadgets work by diving into the world of electronics.
On Day 4: step into life all around us by learning about biology.
On Day 5: conclude with a bang by learning the world of chemistry.
 
You will receive an email indicating if you have been approved to attend. The email will contain a link to complete your registration on the Curious Minds website for the material cost payment. Registration will not be confirmed until payment is received. The registration form has two payment options (Venmo and Zelle). After your payment is made, the student will be registered. The deadline to register is August 8th, 2025. The registration fee is non-refundable. If we have cancellations, we will contact members of the waitlist.

Boat Engineer
Ages 3+. Read the funny story of two inquisitive young engineers and build your own simple models of the boats they encounter. The boats actually float, making for fun and easy experiments around the sink or bathtub. Paws for Reading

  • New or struggling readers in grades 1-5 are invited to sign up for a 15-minute "Paws for Reading" session with one of our local certified therapy dogs.
  • Dogs are excellent listeners and never interrupt! The goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in which kids can read without correction or interruption and learn not just to read, but to love reading as well.
  • A handful of books will be available, but feel free to bring one from home. Each child will have one-on-one reading time.

Little Pim is a language learning solution for children which you can access through the library's Mango subscription. With Little Pim's Entertainment Immersion Method, any child can learn a new language! Available languages include Spanish, French, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, and English/ESL.
 
Little Pim is specifically designed for children ages 0-6. Each course features videos that teach 180 words and phrases, providing the essential building blocks of a foreign language. Building on a child's natural love of play, the videos feature real kids and lively animation to provide a captivating immersion experience.
