Library Brand/Logo Survey for Patrons

As we prepare to open our new library, we are asking the community for input to help us create a new look for our library website and branding. We have created a brief survey to gather the information that will help us build the right image and look for our digital and printed marketing materials.

Your insight will be very valuable, and we ask that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Survey responses are anonymous. We greatly appreciate your help, and look forward to unveiling our new look when the building opens this year!

New Library Updates

New Library Fundraising Campaign

Memorial and honorary donations offer a meaningful way for community members and library users to connect to the library, celebrate milestones, and honor loved ones while at the same time supporting our new library. Donations will go towards both exterior and interior amenities. There are also naming opportunities available for the library building and its rooms. All donations will be recognized on the library’s donor wall. Together, we can bring this project to life to create a beautiful, welcoming space for our community!

Amenity examples:

Lyon Township Public Library and That’s My Brick!® have joined forces to raise money for our project! With a donation, we will install your customized personalized brick. Bricks will be placed in three locations along the new library walkway, in front of benches. There are two brick options - 4x8 and 8x8, both offered in one of two colors (lighthouse gray or landmark gray).

For more details, follow the link HERE to see all the available donation opportunities and room naming opportunities.

To discuss a donation, please contact Lyon Township Public Library Director Holly Teasdle at hteasdle@ltpl.org, or call the library 248-437-8800.

Made You Look by Tanya Grant
Made You Look
by Tanya Grant

Sydney Kent is the ultimate It Girl. You want her effortless style, her charisma, her hair. You want to be her; you want to be with her. But the trouble with a star is that everyone else looks dull in comparison. Despite Caitlyn's social media cunning, it's impossible for her to step out from Sydney's shadow. Even Lucy, Sydney's best friend since before her fame, can't escape her role as full-time photographer to the influencer. When the women are invited to post content for a secluded new retreat in the Catskills, alongside Sydney's boyfriend Jeff, stylist Nash, and manager Brent, the weekend feels like it will be a fresh start. But an unexpected snowstorm traps the group together with no cell service, no Wi-Fi, and no way out. Then a killer strikes, and the dream trip becomes a nightmare. Secrets, lies, and scandals are forced to the surface, and the friends can't help but suspect the murderer might be among them. Worse, the killing has only just begun. But where there's danger, there's juicy, jaw-dropping, name-making content to be created. You know you want to look...
The Sea Captain's Wife: A True Story of Mutiny, Love, and Adventure at the Bottom of the World by Tilar J. Mazzeo
The Sea Captain's Wife: A True Story of Mutiny, Love, and Adventure at the Bottom of the World
by Tilar J. Mazzeo

Summer, 1856. Nineteen-year-old Mary Ann Patten and her husband Joshua were young and ambitious. Both from New England seafaring families, they had already completed their first clipper-ship voyage around the world with Joshua as captain. If they could win [a] race to San Francisco that year, their dream of building a farm and a family might be within reach. It would mean freedom. And the price of that freedom was one last dangerous transit--into the most treacherous waters in the world. As their ship, Neptune's Car, left New York Harbor and sailed down the jagged coast of South America, Joshua fell deathly ill and was confined to his bunk, delirious. ... With no obvious option for a new captain and heartbroken about her husband, Mary Ann stepped into the breach and convinced the crew to support her, just as they slammed into a gale that would last 18 days. Set against the backdrop of the California Gold Rush and taking us to the brink of Antarctica, this book gives Mary Ann Patten--the first woman to command a merchant vessel as captain--her due.
Great Art Explained: The Stories Behind the World's Greatest Masterpieces by James Payne
Great Art Explained: The Stories Behind the World's Greatest Masterpieces
by James Payne

Art appreciation made accessible, relevant and entertaining; writer, curator, and YouTube sensation James Payne demystifies great works of art. Based on the popular and enormously successful YouTube channel of the same name, Great Art Explained unveils the fascinating stories behind some of the world's most iconic paintings and sculptures, proving that there's more to art than just watching paint dry. Art can be thrilling, and resonate on a deep personal level. It is how you view the work, place it in context and understand its history that makes an artwork truly come alive. A fresh approach to a classic subject, James Payne's no-nonsense analysis sheds new light on 30 masterpieces from around the globe and reveals what makes them truly timeless works of art. Each chapter delves into not only the art itself but also the artist's life, as well as the work's place in their wider oeuvre; in other words, what makes it "great." From Hilma af Klint's occult altarpieces to Claude Monet's Water Lilies, Botticelli's The Birth of Venus to Georgia O'Keeffe's Jimson Weed, each artwork is explored with clarity and passion. Whether a seasoned art enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this book promises to deepen your appreciation and enrich your understanding of some of the world's greatest treasures.
