Spring Book Sale

Choose from hundreds of books for your personal collection! Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Oconomowoc Public Library. Friends members get early access on April 17. Join the Friends now or become a member at the door! 


Book Sale Schedule

  • Friday, April 17
    • 4–6 pm — Friends Members‑Only Preview (join at the door!)
    • 6–8 pm — Open to all shoppers
  • Saturday, April 18 • 9 am–4 pm
  • Sunday, April 19 • 1–4 pm — $3 Bag Sale

Join the Book Brigade!

The Friends of the Oconomowoc Library need volunteers to help pre-sort donations for our two annual used book sales. You’ll work with other volunteers at the Library to review donations using our updated guidelines. This helps make shopping easier and reduces leftover books after the sale.

April Reading Challenge 

Read 10 hours this month and earn a Beardie Buck good for $1 toward the purchase of a Friends Book Sale item! Visit the New Children’s Shelf to pick up your log, track your reading, and return the completed log to the desk within the first week of May.

Programs & Events

Library programs, events, and activities are free and open to the public, but some may require registration. A waiting list is available if registration is full.

Gardening Webinar with Melinda Myers

Embracing the Sacredness of Life and Death with Kathy Ginn

Wednesday, April 15 • 6–7 pm


Explore life, aging, and end of life through guided reflection and compassionate conversation with Kathy Ginn. Participants will learn about aging with meaning, embracing mortality, and how end‑of‑life doulas and grief companions support the dying experience. Kathy, founder of 4Rivers Center for Well Being and Sacred River in Oconomowoc, brings deep compassion and experience to this meaningful discussion. Registration is required.

Sound Symbols Speaking and Reading Approach

Tuesday, April 21 • 6–7:30 pm


Come learn about the Sound Symbols™ Speaking and Reading Approach—a proven, easy-to-use program that helps children develop strong speaking and reading skills at the same time. This multisensory, linguistically based approach teaches students to read quickly, accurately, and confidently, even with unfamiliar words. Used successfully with learners of all ages, including those with learning challenges, Sound Symbols™ reduces frustration while increasing motivation, confidence, and a love of reading. Confidence & Conversation Club

Tuesday, April 28 • 3:30–5 pm

The Confidence & Conversation Club is an inclusive program for teens and adults of all abilities, combining light movement, independent reading, and supportive group sharing to build confidence, communication, and connection. In April, participants will explore Community and Connection, discussing ways to engage through volunteering, activities, and inclusive peer relationships. Structured conversations, games, and a partner craft help practice listening, turn‑taking, and inclusion. Presented in partnership with Journey21. Registration is required.

Rambling Readers

Monday, April 6 • 7–8 pm


Join us for the OPL's Rambling Readers, a read-anything walking book club. Chat about what you're reading and get ideas for what to read next, all while walking around Fowler Lake (~2 miles).


Meet on the Library steps at 7 pm wearing comfortable walking shoes. We'll start walking toward Lac La Belle at 7:05.
