Reading Program 

Starting June 2!

Open to Kids, Teens, & Adults!

Track reading and log activities to earn books, coupons, and tickets for prize drawings. This year our summer reading will be logged on paper logs that you can pick up at the Summer Reading Room starting June 2. You will still have the option to sign up online.

Griffin Buddies

Register by June 1

Welcome to Griffin Buddies! Pair up your Grifflet (emerging reader) with a Big Griff (teen volunteer) to practice reading skills with lots of smiles and encouragement along the way. Each pair will set their own reading goals, which will count toward earning badges and prizes on Beanstack.

Journey of Dragons: A Library Challenge

June 2-August 29

Whispers echo through the realms—tales of Guardian Dragons, the ancient keepers of wisdom who scattered their secrets across the land to protect them from being lost to time.

Now, the legends stir once more. The dragons’ hidden knowledge awaits discovery within the four great realms of Bridges Library System.

Join a party of adventurers on a legendary journey. Visit libraries, gather letters and stamps, then piece together passwords to unlock the magic the dragons left behind.

View a classic piece of artwork each week with a twist! Solve the week's mystery to be entered in for a weekly t-shirt drawing. All ages.

Art and drawing slips will be available on the New Children's bookshelf.

Family Fun: Tiny Art!

Monday, June 9 • 1:30-3:30 pm

Unleash your inner artist and make your very own masterpiece! Whatever you make on our tiny canvas will then be put on display for the rest of June for everyone to admire! Pick-up will be the week of the Fourth of July.

Loki Lessons

Tuesday, June 10 • 1:30-2 pm

Drop in to visit with and learn about Loki! Bring a blanket or beach towel to sit on the Library lawn to learn some fun facts about Loki and bearded dragons. If weather conditions do not permit being outside, we will meet in the Spaulding Room.

Saturday, June 14 • 9-10 am

Meet up at Veterans Memorial Park for a walk down memory lane. Learn about the history of the settlers who founded Oconomowoc, the families who built the architectural jewels on our lakes, and our community that has thrived for more than 150 years!

At-Home Mystery: Art Heist

June 23-July 3

The Mona Lisa, the most famous painting in the world, has been stolen from the museum! The thief left a letter with some odd shapes and symbols. Can you help crack the code and solve the mystery?

Visit the New Children's bookshelf to pick up your family packet of puzzles, available Monday, June 23-Thursday, July 3. Solve the mystery and return to the Reference Desk by Friday, July 11 to enter a drawing for Rough Shapes drawing game and read the answer sheet. Best for ages 8+.

Snake Discovery

Thursday, June 26 • 2-3 pm

This is Snake Discovery’s most popular program, which focuses on the reptiles and amphibians that call Minnesota and Wisconsin home. The audience will get to watch a salamander eat, debunk turtle myths, touch snakes, and more! We’ll bring a tiger salamander, a native turtle, native snakes, and exotic reptiles (just for fun). A large boa constrictor makes an appearance at the end of the programs! Time is reserved after the presentation to touch and hold the reptiles for a truly hands-on experience!

This storytime is outdoors on the lawn behind the Oconomowoc Community Center. If weather conditions do not permit being outside, storytime will be in Room B at the Community Center.

BeTween Time - Creepy Campout

Tween Tales - Series 1

   Tuesdays, June 10, 17, & 2 • 3-4 pm

Put on your thinking caps because it's time for Tween Tales! We will meet weekly in June to brainstorm some story ideas, play some writing games, and make your very own book.  


Note: This event runs as a three-session series in June and again in July. The June and July series will be the same, so please only register for one of them to ensure others can participate.
