The Salina Library Presents: Blast Off to Kindergarten! Looking for a fun, simple, and inexpensive way to bond with your young child and get him/her ready for school? Let's READ! When you first sign up for Blast Off to Kindergarten, you receive a bag with information on how to help your child prepare for Kindergarten as well as a folder with your first reading sheet. Whenever you read a book to your child, color in one of the pictures on the sheet. When it's all filled in, bring it to the circulation desk to receive your next sheet and a sticker. Completing certain sheets means earning an extra prize! Each child who completes the program will receive a free book and certificate!

Fun For All Story Time Tuesdays, 11:00 AM – July 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 Preschoolers and early elementary aged children alike will enjoy stories, interactive rhymes and songs, and a craft, based on a different theme each week! For ages 3-7. We will be meeting outside by the garden in good weather and indoors on rainy mornings. Families/groups are requested to bring a beach towel or picnic blanket if possible for a family space, and a few will be available if needed. Feel free to pick up a monthly Storytime at Home Kit for coloring pages, a craft, sticker, as well as songs and rhymes to join along with Miss Monica -- or create your own story time -- from home! |

Sidewalk Art Thursday, July 3 at 2:00 pm Kick off our colorful summer as we decorate the library parking lot and sidewalks. Afterward, cool off with a delicious ice cream sundae!

Terrific Turtles with Beaver Lake Thursday, July 10 at 2:00 pm An educator from the Beaver Lake Nature Center dives into the lifecycles and behaviors of different turtle species we can find through New York State. Turtle props and biofacts will be passed around for participants to observe up close.

Pajama Story Time Thursday, July 10 at 6:00 pm Children ages 3-6, wear your comfiest pajamas for a special night time story time and craft! Please register in advance for event reminder.

The Great and Powerful Dave Wednesday, July 16 at 6:00 pm Dave Moreland presents a high-energy show filled with magic, comedy, puppets, and audience participation. Several of his routines feature volunteers from the audience (maybe one of them will be you!). At the end of the show, Dave teaches everyone a magic trick they can perform with items from around the house. For kids entering PK-5.

Wild Art with Zoo to You Monday, July 21 at 6:00 pm In this hands-on session, we'll discover how the zoo uses are to enrich the lives of animals, emphasize the importance of conservation, and how art can inspire a deeper appreciation for the wildlife around us. Come tap into your imagination, connect with nature, and learn about the animals that share our world! For kids entering PK-5

Messy Art Day Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 pm Dress for a mess! We'll be outdoors in the garden playing with paints and goop and all the messy art we can think of! Afterward, clean up and cool down with a run through the sprinkler! Rain date: Friday, 7/25 at 2:00 pm. For kids entering PK-5.

MOST Color Lab Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 pm Join the MOST as we play with prisms, learn about lasers, and more in this live science demonstration! Discover the basics of the light spectrum, color theory, and how our eyes detect color. For kids entering PK-5.

Teen Tie Dye Tuesday, July 1 at 2:00 pm Bring a clean white cotton t-shirt, socks, or pillowcase to tie dye. Dress for a mess! Rain date for this event is Wednesday, 7/2 at 2:00 pm. For teens entering grades 6-12.

2025 Summer Reading Program: Color Our World June 23-August 10 This summer, the Salina Library offers Kids and Teens weekly opportunities to win prizes and join in fun activities as part of our Summer Reading Program: Color Our World! Registration begins June 23 for kids in grades PK-5 and Teens in grades 6-12. Register online at http://salinalibny10.readsquared.com/, through the ReadSquared app, or in person at our circulation desk and start reading and recording the time you spend reading each day. Stop in the library once a week with your paper or digital reading record to pick out a prize and enter to win one of our many raffle prizes! Everyone who participates at least once by August 10 will get to pic a FREE book to keep, and Teens will receive an invitation to our readers-only After Hours Party! Don't forget to pick up one of our Take-Home Craft Kids or join in one of our weekly events - All for free!
