Monthly Kits for Kids & Teens
 
 
Story Time Kit
Each month, Miss Monica prepares a Storytime Kit to go along with that month’s story time themes. Each kit contains: one coloring page for each week, with songs and rhymes to go with the weekly theme; a sticker, and a monthly craft.  To pick up a kit, stop by the library or set up a Curbside Pickup appointment by calling us at 315-454-4524.  Recommended for ages 2-6.

Take-Home Craft Kit
Monthly craft kit for kids & teens that require minimal if any supplies from home. Recommended for ages 6 and up. To pick up a kit, stop by the library or set up a Curbside Pickup appointment by calling us at 315-454-4524. April's craft is: Gliding Robot.
 
Family Art Show: Peep Diorama
April 18 - May 30
Families are invited to create a diorama on a theme of your choosing, using Peeps! Kits will be available starting Friday April 18, containing a box, Peeps and miscellaneous decorating supplies. Families are encouraged to create a scene together using the box and materials, along with any supplies from home. Bring the diorama back to the library with a title and description of the scene and it will be displayed in the Children’s Area during the rest of April and the month of May. To pick up a kit, stop by the library or set up a Curbside Pickup appointment by calling us at 315-454-4524.

The Salina Library Presents: Blast Off to Kindergarten!
Looking for a fun, simple, and inexpensive way to bond with your young child and get him/her ready for school? Let's READ!
When you first sign up for Blast Off to Kindergarten, you receive a bag with information on how to help your child prepare for Kindergarten as well as a folder with your first reading sheet. Whenever you read a book to your child, color in one of the pictures on the sheet. When it's all filled in, bring it to the circulation desk to receive your next sheet and a sticker. Completing certain sheets means earning an extra prize! Each child who completes the program will receive a free book and certificate!
 
Early Learners Story Time
Tuesdays, 11:00 AM – April 1, 8, 15, & 22
Make learning fun! Your child will learn important early literacy and social skills with stories, rhymes, and songs, in a setting appropriate to their needs. No registration required. For children ages 2-4 years old, with accompanying adult.
 
Feel free to pick up a monthly Storytime at Home Kit for coloring pages, a craft, sticker, as well as songs and rhymes to join along with Miss Monica -- or create your own story time -- from home! 
 
 
Toddlers Explore
Wednesdays, 11:00 AM - April 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30
What do you do with a wiggly toddler? Bring them to the library on Wednesday mornings for songs, stories, and activities to explore! No registration required. For ages 1.5-3 years old, with accompanying adult.
 
Pajama Story Time
Thursday, April 10 at 6:00 pm
Children ages 3-6, wear your comfiest pajamas for a special night time story time and craft! Please register in advance for event reminder.
 
Teens
Salina Teen Warriors
Tuesday, April 8 at 4:30 pm
Teens in grades 6-12 can show their love for the library and give back to the community! Pick up an application at our circulation desk to join our Teen Advisory Group, the Salina Warriors! Members eill be helping to brainstorm and create activities for the library, and more!
 
Chocolate Games 2: Spring Fever
Wednesday, April 16 at 2:00 pm
The Chocolate (Olympic) Games of 2024 are returning for the Spring 2025 season, and some new games! Will our reigning champions be overthrown, or will a new roster take their place?  For teens in grades 6-12. Please register in advance.
 
Melted Crayon Art
Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 pm
Learn how to bring new life to old broken-down crayons, with a little heat. Teens in grades 6-12 can learn how to make artwork with melted crayons.  Please register in advance.
 
Salina Teens' Silent Book Club
Thursday, April 24 from 6:00-7:30 pm
Are you a teen in grades 6-12 who wants to read without a bunch of chatter or assigned reading?
This may be the group for you! Each week, bring your own book (or pick one from the library!)
to read or listen to (audiobooks count, just have your headphones ready!) silently for at least an
hour while enjoying snacks and the nearby (quiet) vibes of other readers! Find more information

Learn from a Master Gardener how to read a seed packet, look inside a seed, and begin growing a plant of your own! For ages 8-12. Please register in advance.
 
Sip 'n' Paint with Miss Nichole
Tuesday, April 15 at 3:00 pm
Create springtime artwork using watercolor paints and oil pastels, while sampling different types of root beer and ginger ale! For ages 7-12. Please register in advance.
 
Play Dough Playtime
Friday, April 18 at 2:00 pm
Time to squish, mold, and create with play dough! Families of all ages are invited to stop in and learn how to make your won dough and stay and play at one of our play dough stations!  Please register in advance for event reminder.
 
Friday Crafternoon
Friday, April 25 at 3:30 pm
Families are invited to drop in between 3:30 and 4:30 to make grippy gloves to keep or donate! For families with ages 4-12.
