Have a chance to win prizes just for checking out materials at the library! For every 5 items that you check out in a single transaction, you’ll earn a ticket to put in the drawing of your choice. No limits! The more you check out, the more chances you have to win. There will be new prizes to win every month!
Holiday Fun
Monday, December 8th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
London Public Library
We'll have holiday crafts for all ages to make, a Christmas Around the World concert with the band Lafferty Pike, refreshments, and a reading of "Biscuit's Christmas Eve." Plus, Biscuit the Dog will be at the library to give everyone a holiday hug or high five! 
Paws for Reading with Emma
Tuesday, December 9th, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
London Public Library Reading Room
NEW TIME! Read to a real dog! Register your child for a 10 minute time slot in which they will read a story to certified therapy dog, Emma. Emma is a nonjudgmental listener who will encourage children to read and help struggling readers find confidence. 
*Have a book picked out and ready to read for your time slot.
Yarnies: Fiber Arts Club

London Public Library Reading Room
Join us for an hour of crafting! If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or any other fiber arts please join us for an hour of socializing and crafting! Whether you're a beginner or an expert, bring along your current project and work alongside others who enjoy crafting as much as you! This is not a class, but we do encourage anyone that comes to share their skills with beginners if they feel so inclined. Yarnies will meet in the Magazine/Newspaper room upstairs in the library, across from the front desk.
Duck Hunt
Monday, December 22nd to Saturday, January 3rd, All Day

Find a rubber duck hiding in the library and keep it!
It's duck season in Ohio! Come to the library to hunt down the rubber ducks hiding throughout the library, while supplies last. If you find one, you get to keep it! Only one rubber duck per child please.
CLOSED - Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

London Public Library
The London Public Library will be closed all day on Wednesday, December 24th and Thursday, December 25th for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The library will reopen and resume normal hours on Friday, December 26th.

London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Toddler Time will engage your child with stories, songs, and finger plays. For ages 0 - 3 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute.

Preschool Story Time will delight your child with stories, songs, finger plays, and a weekly letter activity. For ages 3 - 6 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute. Preschoolers have the opportunity to practice the alphabet with a special letter activity after the regular story time is finished.

Little ones can visit different stations to play. They won’t even know they are learning in the process! (Ages 0 – 6)
Break-In Bags
Saturday, December 20th while supplies last  
London Public Library Children's Library
Figure out the code to break in the bag and get your loot! Use your critical thinking skills to find the number code to unlock your loot! Request Easy, Medium, or Hard levels. (Easy: Kindergarten - 2nd grade. Medium: 3rd - 5th grades. Hard: 6 - 12th grades) Prizes inside are for keeps. The bag, lock, and binder clip must be returned to the library after one week. While supplies last!
Noon Year's Eve Party

Celebrate the New Year before midnight! Can't stay awake until midnight? Come celebrate the new year with us by playing games like Roll Around the Clock, New Year's Bingo, and Giant Jenga. Make some crafts. Then join in the glow-in-the-dark dance party until it's time to start the countdown to noon with the Ball Pop! (Ages 3-10)

Seed Exchange - Seed Drop Off
Sunday, December 1st - Wednesday, January 17th, All Day
London Public Library Reception Desk
The OSU Extension Office and Madison County Master Gardeners joins the library for another Seed Exchange event! Before the program on January 18th, we ask that you bring in your seeds you would like to trade. Pick up empty seed envelopes and labels starting December 1st. Once you have filled the envelopes with your donated seeds, please return by January 17th. Cooking Demo with Sara Bir
Wednesday, December 3rd, 6:30PM - 7:30 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Join us for a cooking demo led by Ohio chef and author, Sara Bir! Sara Bir is an acclaimed food historian, chef, and author from Marietta, Ohio. With her unique blend of humor, insight, and culinary expertise, Sara will demonstrate two dessert recipes from her cookbook Tasting Ohio as she shares cooking tips and the stories behind the recipes. Yes, there will be samples! (Ages 18+)

Book Club

London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month when we meet to discuss the current book and pick up the next month’s title. We reserve copies that you can get at the library. This month we will be reading The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. (Ages 18+)
This month, join us at 6:30pm for finger foods and socialization! Book club will start at 7:00pm as normal.  
Origami Stars

Make your own jar of stars! Learn how to make origami stars and decorate your own jar to fill with them! (Ages 11-17)

Are you struggling to work the new iPad you got for Christmas? Maybe you want to set up a social media account but don't know where to start? Do you want to become more knowledgeable on how to work your email? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the London Public Library can help! We are now offering FREE Technology Help Sessions during the week by appointment only! Call or come in to schedule your help session! Each help session will provide a one-on-one 45-minute time block where you can ask questions and be shown how to use/do various tasks. Help session attendees must bring their own technology to learn on.
