CLOSED - New Year's Day

The London Public Library will be closed all day on Thursday, January 1st for New Year's Day. The library will reopen and resume normal hours on Friday, January 2nd.

Have a chance to win prizes just for checking out materials at the library! For every 5 items that you check out in a single transaction, you’ll earn a ticket to put in the drawing of your choice. CLOSED: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Monday, January 19th, All Day
London Public Library
The London Public Library will be closed all day on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The library will reopen and resume normal hours on Tuesday, January 20th.
Yarnies: Fiber Arts Club
Wednesday, January 21st, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
London Public Library Reading Room
Join us for an hour of crafting! If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or any other fiber arts please join us for an hour of socializing and crafting! Whether you're a beginner or an expert, bring along your current project and work alongside others who enjoy crafting as much as you! This is not a class, but we do encourage anyone that comes to share their skills with beginners if they feel so inclined. Yarnies will meet in the Magazine/Newspaper room upstairs in the library, across from the front desk.

Free After-School Snacks for Students
Every Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
London Public Library
Beginning January 5th: Students ages 18 and under can stop by the library every weekday from 3:00-4:30 for a free after-school snack to enjoy while at the library! Brought to you in partnership with Children's Hunger Alliance.

London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Toddler Time will engage your child with stories, songs, and finger plays. For ages 0 - 3 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute.

Preschool Story Time will delight your child with stories, songs, finger plays, and a weekly letter activity. For ages 3 - 6 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute. Preschoolers have the opportunity to practice the alphabet with a special letter activity after the regular story time is finished.

Children ages 4 - 6 can practice the alphabet and motor skills to prepare for kindergarten! We will practice letter sounds and writing letters using a variety of multisensory literacy activities. Children can also master the important fine motor skills and gross motor skills needed to start school. We will work on numbers and counting, scissors, sorting, patterns, and more!
Stuffed Animal Hospital
Saturday, January 17th, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Bring your stuffy to the animal hospital for a checkup! It's time for a checkup! Kids get to be the vets! Bring your stuffy to weigh and measure, check their eyes and ears, give them shots, take x-rays, bandage their broken arms and legs, and get a treat for being a good patient!

Seed Exchange - Seed Drop Off
Friday, January 2nd - Wednesday, January 17th, All Day
London Public Library Reception Desk
The OSU Extension Office and Madison County Master Gardeners joins the library for another Seed Exchange event! Before the program on January 18th, we ask that you bring in your seeds you would like to trade. Pick up empty seed envelopes and labels starting December 1st. Once you have filled the envelopes with your donated seeds, please return by January 17th. Book Club
Tuesday, January 13th, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month when we meet to discuss the current book and pick up the next month’s title. We reserve copies that you can get at the library. This month we will be reading Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. (Ages 18+)
Ballet Basics for Teens and Adults
Tuesday, January 27th, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Learn some ballet basics with a local teen dancer! You're never too old to learn ballet! In this class local, pre-professional dancer, Quinn, will be teaching teens and adults the basics of ballet! Quinn is a member of BalletMet's Trainee Program and wants to share their talents with you! This class is for ages 11 and up. Registration is required here.
Seed Exchange - Event
Saturday, January 31st, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Come get new seeds for your garden this year! It's the big seed swap event! Come to the library to pick up seeds to try in your garden this spring. You can try new vegetables, flowers, or even fruits without having to buy a whole packet. And we'll even provide free resources to help you grow a successful garden this year. Seeds will be passed out while supplies last. We encourage patrons to attend at the start time in order to have the best selection of seeds!

Are you struggling to work the new iPad you got for Christmas? Maybe you want to set up a social media account but don't know where to start? Do you want to become more knowledgeable on how to work your email? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the London Public Library can help! We are now offering FREE Technology Help Sessions during the week by appointment only! Call or come in to schedule your help session! Each help session will provide a one-on-one 45-minute time block where you can ask questions and be shown how to use/do various tasks. Help session attendees must bring their own technology to learn on.
