Summer Reading!
Starting the last week of May, you can pre-register for our Summer Reading program
which will officially begin June 1st and end July 31st. 
Log books and/or activities to be eligible to win prizes all summer long! 
If you have signed up and logged at least one book by July 31st,
you will be able to collect a finishing prize the first two weeks of August.
 
Our prize sponsors include the Friends of the Library, Erik's Deli, Automobuild, Baja Fresh,
Icing on the Cake, Petroglyph, Easy Breezy Yogurt, Pizza California, and Regale Winery and Vineyards. Thank you to our wonderful community partners!

Storytime Schedule  
 
The Los Gatos Library is pleased to offer multiple Storytime programs for early learners ages 0-5. Find a Storytime that is perfect for your child's developmental needs: 
  • Baby Lap-Sit Storytime (ages 0-12 months): Tuesdays at 9:30 am *Enter through Garden Gate* Non-walking babies from 0-12 months are welcome! We kindly ask that you do not bring older siblings/walkers. Please attend our other Storytimes for older children - see info below!
  • Preschool Storytime (ages 2-5 years): Wednesdays at 11 am 
  • Wonderful Ones Storytime (ages 12-24 months): Thursdays at 11 am 
 
Special Events for May
Literacy Playground: Fun Phonics (Ages 5-8)
Wednesday, May 8, 4:00 PM
 
Bond with your kids as they learn the fundamentals of reading and writing. There will be 4 fun phonics activities for you to try. Bring your 5-8 year-old kids! We'll bring the playdough, salt and sidewalk chalk. 
Local Reading and Writing Specialist, Mohini Pollock, will be here to facilitate this fun workshop!

Chamber Music by the Bay: Music Explorers (Ages 3-10)

Chamber Music by the Bay presents: Music Explorers - How and Why We Make Music.
 
Join the acclaimed musicians and teaching artists of Chamber Music by the Bay as a Music Explorer! You'll explore ways to make sounds both with our bodies and on string instruments. You'll also have a chance to learn about why we make music—and explore all the ways music brings joy and meaning to us. Following the performance, young audience members have a chance to visit the Instrument Petting Zoo to try their own hand at the viola and cello. While audiences of all ages are welcome, this program is especially geared at young audience members ages ten and below.
 
Keiki Hula Class (Ages 3-10)
Thursday, May 23, 4:00 PM
 
Celebrate Pacific Islander heritage and Polynesian culture by learning how to hula! Watch hula dancers perform and then learn how to sway to the calming island vibes. A group of dancers from Island Spice Polynesian Dance Revue will be here to perform and teach children, and the recommended ages are 3-10 years. However, all ages of children are welcome to join in on the fun! 
 
Art History Club (Ages 8-13)
Thursday, May 30, 4:00 PM, Library Conference Room
 
Join us for a brief and fun art history lesson, paired with an art project. We will celebrate monthly observations with art, while learning more about the world together! Get ready for cool history and making an art masterpiece!

Tinker Tuesday (Ages 3-10)
Tuesdays, May 14 and May 28, 4:00 PM
 
Take some time out of your afternoon to craft, play, imagine, build, and create! 
This program is geared towards children ages 3 - 10, and each event will feature either a craft or different activities or games.
Tinker Tuesday takes place every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. 
 
Kids Knitting (Ages 7+)
Wednesdays at 3:00 PM
 
For ages 7+ only: Join Librarians Robert and Judy in the Children's Room and learn to knit! Learn the basic skills to get started on a simple project and practice your stitching.
