Learn Kitchen Knife Skills April 16 Youth, ages 10 to 18, are invited to gain some culinary confidence on Thursday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. when Rodman Public Library hosts Kitchen Knife Skills for Tweens and Teens in the Main Auditorium. Participants will learn how to safely utilize knives in the kitchen in a class taught by Elizabeth Schweigert, an educator from Central State University Extension – Northeast Region. While learning these new skills, the kids will use a recipe to assemble Southwest bowls. Kids Crafting Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 9 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library to create paper cherry blossom trees. Thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library, all materials and supplies are provided free of charge during Kids Crafting programs, which are held on the second Thursday of each month. Registration is required.

Lego Lab The RPL Lego Lab is in session at 4:15 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, when children, ages 6-12, are invited to the Main Library get creative. Participants will compete in different mini games during the April 28 session, using Legos provided by the library. Registration is required.

Pizza and Pages
Get ready to discover your next favorite story at our special book talk for children, ages 8 to 12. Pizza and Pages will return Tuesday, May 19 at 4 p.m. We'll reveal a batch of brand new books guaranteed to excite your imagination and take you on unforgettable adventures. All while enjoying a slice of pizza and other activities. Registration is required.

Tabletop Gaming Tabletop Gaming, a popular all-ages program continues at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7. Each month, a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, games from the library’s collection are also available and visitors are welcome to bring their own games. The free monthly event is held on the first Tuesday of each month. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Rodman Chess Club The popular Rodman Chess Club will meet at Rodman Public Library on April 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Kids Take and Make Starting Wednesday, April 1, kids can stop by the Branch to pick up an Easter Bunny and egg take and make craft (while supplies last). A new monthly project is available on the first open day of each month and are provided free of charge thanks to the Friends of Rodman Library.

Hot Pots Storytime Hot Pots Storytime will have an Easter theme in April. Children, ages 2-12, are invited to come to the RPL Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint an Easter egg box using glitter paint. The project will be completed that night so that it can be taken home and enjoyed over the holiday. Two sessions will be held, including Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, April at 11 a.m. The cost is $16.99 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com.
