Summer Reading Starts May 27
 
The 2025 Summer Reading Program will run May 27 through August 2. With a theme of Color Our World, readers of all ages have the opportunity to earn entry tickets for grand prizes throughout the duration of the program. To get things off to a glowing start, the RPL auditorium will be transformed into a glow putt-putt course from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, and all patrons, both young and more mature, are encouraged to come play a round and register for the Summer Reading Program.

Youth Invited to Make Stickers on May 13
 
Youth, ages 10-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library on Tuesday, May 13 to make stickers.
 
At 4 p.m., those attending Make Your Own Stickers Day will assemble in the auditorium to design and create their own stickers, utilizing materials and equipment from RPL’s Makerspace.
 
All supplies will be provided for free, thanks to support from Friends of Rodman Library. Space is limited, however, and registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com.

Video Gaming Day
 
Area youth, ages 10-18 are invited to Rodman Public Library to play their favorite video games on a selected Thursday each month.
 
In May, a session is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 15 in the Main Auditorium.
 
During Video Gaming Days 10-18, youth have the opportunity to play games on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4 & 5, a Meta Quest 3, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo WiiU. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level will be offered.
 
No registration is required for these free gaming events.

Rodman Public Library invites children,
ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club, which meets every third Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. at the Main Library.

Kids Crafting
 
Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library to create bubble art hydrangeas. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required.
 
 
FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Tabletop Gaming
 
Feeling bored?
 
Try playing some new board games at Rodman Public Library’s Tabletop Gaming.
 
The popular all-ages program returns to the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.
Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games.
 
The free monthly event  is normally held on the first Tuesday of each month. In May, it will be held on the second Tuesday of the month due to the primary election.
 
The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends.
 
Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program.
 
Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Rodman Chess Club
 
The popular Rodman Chess Club will meet at Rodman Public Library on May 21 from 5:30 to 7:30  p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month.
 
GET CRAFTY AT THE BRANCH
Branch Take and Make
 
Starting Thursday, May 1 kids can stop by the Branch to pick up an "I Love You a Bunch" sign take and make craft (while supplies last).  Monthly projects are free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Library.
Hot Pots Storytime
 
Children, ages 2-12, are invited to come
to the RPL Branch for a mini storytime
with an amphibians theme
and then proceed to Hot Pots,
accompanied by their guardian,
to paint an Archie the axolotl figurine.
Two sessions will be held, including
 Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. 
The cost is $15.99 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com.
Following the May session,
Hot Pots Storytime will take a break
through the summer and will return in the fall.
