Alliance Native to Discuss Book Series Inspired by Distinguished FBI Career
An Alliance native, 29-year FBI agent Harry Trombitas now shares his expertise as an investigator in his role as host of the gripping true crime podcast Off the Record: An FBI Agent’s Perspective. His personal stories of tracking serial killers like Thomas Lee Dillon to taking down organized crime figures to working on almost 1,000 bank robberies in his career are retold in The Dark Places Series, four books he authored and self published to give readers a glimpse of what it's like to work complex cases. Trombitas will visit Rodman Public Library to discuss his career on Saturday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m. |

Conductor to Discuss Work Ahead of July Fourth Reenactment Concert Joseph N. Rubin, a musicologist with American Musical Productions, will present “Programming the Past: An Alliance City Band Encore” on Wednesday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Rodman Public Library. The talk is a prelude to a July 4 concert inside Silver Park that will reenact one from exactly a century ago. During his library talk, Rubin will take the audience on a musical multimedia journey through his efforts to uncover and recreate turn-of-the-century band concert programs. Featuring video clips from his “living history” concerts throughout the state, he will detail newly discovered facts about the Alliance City Band and its longtime director Emil Rinkendorf. |

Lecture Explores Alliance's Connection to the Revolution
There’s one veteran from the War of Independence buried in Alliance. His name is John Shreve. Stark County is named after another patriot. His name is John Stark. Rodman Public Library Community Relations Manager and Jack R. Weber Jr. will explore both of their stories when he presents “Shreve and Stark: Alliance’s Connections to the Revolutionary War” on Monday, June 29. The program will be given twice – once at 11 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. Registration is required. The program, which is part of Alliance’s America 250 festivities and is co-sponsored by Rodman Public Library and the Alliance Historical Society. Both men led remarkable lives and were part of some major battles and other milestones in America’s fight for freedom. |

RPL to be Access Point for Ohio Means Jobs
Rodman Public Library has been added as an access point for Ohio Means Jobs.
Representatives from Ohio Means Jobs will set up a table near the Information Center of the Main Library once a month to aid patrons who are seeking employment. In July, Ohio Means Jobs will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7. August's hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25. Ohio Means Jobs can help with resume building and job application assistance, job search guidance, job matching with current employer openings, interview preparation and coaching, support with onboarding tasks such as scheduling interviews and completing paperwork, and innovative workshops. Featured services include a resume blitz with quick, 10-minute resume tune-up where job seekers get immediate feedback and updates as well as a job matching challenge where those seeking employment can walk in with a resume and leave with three job leads as an Ohio Means Jobs team member will help match skills and experience to real, open positions in the area. Tabletop Gaming Tabletop Gaming, an all-ages program continues at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7. Each month, a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection, which can also be borrowed with a valid library card, are also available and visitors are welcome to bring their own games. The free monthly event is held on the first Tuesday of each month. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. |

Rodman Chess Club
The popular Rodman Chess Club will meet at Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, July 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month. |

Cookbook Club The Cookbook Club, a group for cooking and baking enthusiasts, gathers inside the Rodman Auditorium at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month to discuss their experience creating a recipe of their choice from a selected cookbook or from a specific theme. Participants can bring in small samples of their recipes for others to share with others. The club, which has no formal membership, will meet July 28 when the theme will be a summer recipe taken from a variety of cookbooks available at the Main Library circulation desk. Maker Monday Maker Monday, an in-person craft program for adults, is held monthly on a select Monday. Following a short break, the program returns July 20 at 5 p.m. when crafters will create a red, white, and blue fabric wreath. All materials and supplies are provided free of charge, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required for each session. |

Unearth A Story This Summer at RPL Summer is a great time for discovery. It’s a time to find new stories, uncover lost histories, learn new skills, and go on new adventures. Rodman Public Library invites all patrons to take part in the 2026 Summer Reading Program, which has the theme of “Unearth A Story,” celebrating the many ways people can do all of those things through books and other resources found right at their local library. |
