Book Sale Time! Held in conjunction with the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, the Friends of Rodman Public Library’s 2024 Used Book Sale will be held at The Commons, 405 S. Linden Ave., from Saturday, August 3 through Wednesday, August 7.More than 10,000 items are available for sale, including large number of children’s books for 25 cents each, or five for $1.

Pick Up Take Home Craft Kits The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library is cleaning out its cupboards and closets in August and crafty kids will benefit. While supplies last, children can visit the Main Library during August and pick up craft kits to take home and enjoy. The materials will be the same that have been featured in past Kids Crafting and other art programs. Instructions will also be included. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Play BINGO on August 19 Rodman Public Library invites children to come play BINGO on Monday, August 19.The free games will start at 6 p.m. inside the Rodman Main Auditorium and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Registration is required.

Kids Gaming Kids Gaming is held on the first Wednesday of each month at Rodman Public Library in the Main Library Auditorium. From 4 to 5 p.m., children, ages 8-12, are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc. on devices provided by the library. The next session is Wednesday, August 7. Kids Crafting Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 8 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library to paint a worry stone. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required.

Tabletop Gaming The popular all-ages monthly program will be held Wednesday, July 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library. A new game is featured each month, but other games available in the library’s collection are also available for visitors to play and those attending are always welcome to bring their own games. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Rodman Chess Club The Rodman Chess Club, which is open to patrons of all ages who have an interest in the classic board game, will meet on Wednesday, August 21. Come make new friends and explore the ancient game of strategy. The club, which has no formal membership, meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month. Several boards are set up in the auditorium as players mingle to find opponents to play against. Players are welcome to come and go as they please throughout the two-hour program. No registration required.

Kids Book Club Meets August 21 Rodman Public Library invites children, ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club, which meets every third Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. at the Main Library. The August session will be held on August 21 when Charlotte's Web by E.B. White will be the selection. Registration is required to attend. Meetings include a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity, and a snack.

Branch Take and Make Starting Thursday, August 1 kids can stop by the Branch to pick up a magnetic shark frame take and make craft while supplies last. Monthly projects are free thanks to the Friends of Rodman Library.

DAR to Host Traveling Exhibit in RPL Auditorium The Alliance-based Jane Bain Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is collaborating with the American Battlefield Trust to support an “American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit” celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The 12-panel exhibit and three interactive kiosks, aimed at audiences of all ages, will be on display inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium from Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16.
