A Look Back Through The Lens of Review Photographer Ed Hall Jr.
Ed Hall Jr. was a seasoned traveler, but somewhat new to photography when he was sent on assignment by The Alliance Review to New York City in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. On September 9, Hall will share some of the hundreds of photos he took and relate his experiences ahead of the nation's 25th commemoration of the national tragedy. |

Fantasy Writer Kicks Off Author Series September 28
Jennifer Mandula, who describes herself as the writer of fun, romantic, cozy-ish fantasy that flirts with the dark, is finding some success with her first released novel, The Geomagician. A lover of creative worlds, witty banter, clever characters, and surprising magic, she packed it all into that first book, released in March 2026 after spending more than a decade formulating the story in her mind. Now she anticipates the release of its sequel next spring. Mandula will visit Rodman Public Library as part of the Fogle Author Series on Monday, September 28 at 6 p.m. Registration is required to attend. |

RPL is Access Point for Ohio Means Jobs
Rodman Public Library is an access point
for Ohio Means Jobs. Representatives from Ohio Means Jobs will set up a table near the Information Center of the Main Library once a month to aid patrons who are seeking employment. September's hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29. Ohio Means Jobs can help with resume building and job application assistance, job search guidance, job matching with current employer openings, interview preparation and coaching, support with onboarding tasks such as scheduling interviews and completing paperwork, and innovative workshops. Tabletop Gaming Tabletop Gaming, an all-ages program continues at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1. Each month, a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection, which can also be borrowed with a valid library card, are also available and visitors are welcome to bring their own games. The free monthly event is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month, but is being held a week later in August due to the used book sale conducted by Friends of Rodman Library. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. |

Rodman Chess Club
The popular Rodman Chess Club will meet at Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, September 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month. |

Books and Coffee The Books and Coffee Book Club usually meets at 6:30 p.m. every second Monday of the month at the Rodman Branch Library. In August, the group will meet a week earlier due to a scheduling conflict. DAR Book Group The DAR Book Group, facilitated by the Jain Bain Chapterof the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, meets quarterly at RPL. The group, which is open to both men and women, meets at 3 p.m. on a selected Friday in the RPL conference room. Cookbook Club The Cookbook Club, a group for cooking and baking enthusiasts, gathers inside the Rodman Auditorium at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month to discuss their experience creating a recipe of their choice from a selected cookbook or from a specific theme. Participants can bring in small samples of their recipes for others to share with others. The club, which has no formal membership, will meet September 29 when the selected cookbook will be The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier by Ree Drummond, which is available at the Main Library circulation desk. Registration is required to attend. |
Maker Monday Maker Monday, an in-person craft program for adults, is held monthly on a select Monday. At 5 p.m. on September 21, participants will create "dynamic splatter expressions." All materials and supplies are provided free of charge, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required for each session. |
