Summer Reading Starts May 27
 
The 2025 Summer Reading Program will run May 27 through August 2. With a theme of Color Our World, readers of all ages have the opportunity to earn entry tickets for grand prizes throughout the duration of the program. To get things off to a glowing start, the RPL auditorium will be transformed into a glow putt-putt course from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, and all patrons, both young and more mature, are encouraged to come play a round and register for the Summer Reading Program.

Makerspace Programs Begin in May
 
The Rodman Public Library Makerspace is ready to help Alliance area residents get creative.
 
To aid RPL patrons in learning about the equipment and materials utilized in the Makerspace, librarian Mary Rose Bihler has planned some programs over the next couple of months that will allow users to become acquainted with everything the space has to offer.
 
Open to cardholders 12 and older, the May programs include a May the Fourth Maker Day on Saturday, May 3, and DIY Houseplant Papercrafts on Friday, May 16.

Alliance Garden Club to Host
Floral Design Program
 
Floral design will be the topic of a special program hosted by the Alliance Garden Club at 6:30 p.m. on May 14.
 
David Peterson, one-time owner of David ‘s Floral and the in-house florist Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, will present “Design 101 Starting with 17th Century Still Life” inside the Rodman auditorium.
 
The program, which is open to the public, will include a demonstration of floral design and explore the history of the art.

FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Tabletop Gaming
 
 
Tabletop Gaming, a popular all-ages program continues at the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.
 
Each month, a new game is featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection, which can also be borrowed with a valid library card, are also available and visitors are
welcome to bring their own games.
 
The free monthly event is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month, but is being held on the second Tuesday during May due to the primary election.
 
The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends.
 
Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program.
 
Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Chess Club
 
The popular Rodman Chess Club will meet at Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, May 21 from 5:30 to 7:30  p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening.
Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Maker Monday
 
Maker Monday continues inside Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium on May 19 when crafters will plant a paper garden. Maker Monday is an in-person craft program for adults that is held monthly on a select Monday. All materials are provided free of charge, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required for each session.
