NEWS FROM THE DIRECTOR
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month!

I hope you’ve realized by now that your library card is the smartest card in your wallet!  Why?  Because your library card opens the door to a world of possibilities.  Books, movies, audiobooks, Libby, lifelong learning, tools, hotspots, author talks, engaging programs, Kindles, streaming, family events, free WiFi, literacy resources, seed library, puzzle exchange, free notaries, baking pans….the list goes on and on! Most importantly, your library card guarantees you ACCESS to the information and resources that you need.  The library is here…it’s yours….come and take advantage of all that it offers, and spread the good news about this amazing resource right here in our hometown.

Come visit us soon, or we’ll come visit you.  We are happy to make outreach visits to share some library joy!  If you’d like the library to visit your organization, please reach out to us at mtl@waterloolibrary.org.

YOUTH PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Youth Fall Program Lineup!
Back-to-school means settling into new routines, and we’d love for the library to be part of yours! Our fall program lineup is packed with opportunities for kids, teens, and families to connect, create, learn, and explore. From storytimes and STEM challenges to book clubs, arts & crafts projects, playtime, and more, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check out the Youth & Teen Event page on our website for the full schedule, registration details, and more.

With over ten programs to choose from, here are just a couple highlights:

Book Clubs – Join the Book Wizards (grades 3–5) or Bookmarked (grades 6–8)! Each month, members choose books based on a theme rather than everyone reading the same book. There will be book related discussion, games, activities, and more!

Family Storytime – An evening storytime for the whole family with stories, songs, and a themed activity or craft. This month we’ll also be learning some American Sign Language in honor of Deaf Awareness Month!

We can’t wait to welcome you back this school year! Whether you’re looking for programs, a new book to dive into, resources for a school project, or just a free and fun place to spend time, the library is here for you.
