Community Connections are a Treat!
In October, the Library will be celebrating its community connections once again. 
 
Marshfield Fire and Rescue and Marshfield Utilitites will both be joining us for Storytimes this month. Both will be teaching kids about what they do and bringing along their equipment and trucks. We have these visits every year and they're always a big hit with the Storytime crowd!
 
Speaking of popular programs, Rock Ridge Orchard will be joining us on October 6 for Tuesdays at the Library for the All About Apples program. Dan and Julie from Rock Ridge are always ready to answer any questions you may have about growing apples and apple varieties. And, of course, they bring along plenty of examples to taste!
 
On Saturday, October 3, local illustrator Kjersten Niskanen will be here to read Jonny the Fire Kid: It's Bed Time, a book she's worked on with local author Christy DeClerc. After the story, there will be some fun activities for the family. 
 
The evening of October 14 will be music to our ears when local singer Mary Kastern will join us to talk about the history of Sweet Adelines Interntaional, a non-profit music education association dedicated to the advancement of a cappella, four-part barbershop harmony for women, and their local chapter, the Heart O' Wisconsin Chorus. 
 
Finally, on October 29, we will, once again, be participating in the Downtown Trick or Treat event on Central Avenue. We can't wait for you to see our costume this year!
 
It's really all treats, no tricks at the Library in October!

Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library presents our first Autumn Author Showcase!
We are looking to highlight published works by local authors and connecting those
authors to new audiences in our community.
 
On this day, a wide variety of authors will be on hand to talk to potential readers.
Think of it like a craft fair except instead of crafts and artists, there will be
books and authors!
 
Books will be available for purchase at each author's discretion.
 
Any author who wishes to participate in this event should email
Steve at sapfel@marshfieldlibrary.org for information and registration.

What is a Frankenstuff you ask? Well, let us tell you!
Frankenstuff is a craft program where you will have the opportunity to create your own unique stuffed animal. You will choose different body parts from an assortment of stuffed animals and sew the parts back together! What will your Frankenstuff look like? Will it have the head of a tiger with a body of a bear and a monkey’s tail? You get to decide!
Year after year, this is one of our most popular programs. We can't wait to see what creatures everyone comes up with this year!

The Chess Mates competitive chess club meets on the last Saturday of each month from 1-5 PM. They offer three regulation tournament boards for the first six players to arrive as well as a chess clock for “blitz” and a regular clock. All ages welcome. There will be no instruction for beginners. This club is looking for experienced players looking for a fun game play challenge.
