The Science of Reading, the Virginia Literacy Act, and Public Libraries
Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm EST The Virginia Literacy Act requires that literacy instruction is aligned with science-based reading research. Beginning in fall 2024, schools started to provide evidenced-based literacy instruction to students in kindergarten through grade eight. Come learn how schools are teaching reading and how public libraries can support that instruction.
Debbie Ramer is a clinical faculty member in Curriculum & Instruction/Special Education at William & Mary, Director of the Special Education Program, Principal Investigator of W&M TTAC, and Co-Director of the W&M Literacy Lab. She holds an Education Specialist degree from the University of Virginia in Special Education with an emphasis in Reading.
This training will be recorded and available for viewing in Niche Academy.
