March is late this year, yet it still catches me off guard.
March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. I have an IDE-ea!
Instead of reading Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (predictable), read his Commentaries on the Gallic Wars et al here. The practice of writing a book before run.. er...taking office goes a long way back!
Continuing on the theme of war, read about the contribution of General Knox, (who was a bookseller) to Evacuation Day, a Boston area holiday that happens to fall on St. Patrick's Day. Finally, for a bit of harmony between the sexes, pick up Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus.
Sincerely, Kevin Sheehan |

Highlights and Updates
It's been a cold couple of months here in New England and as we all hunker down with our books, I know we're anxiously awaiting signs of Spring! Have you signed up for the Library's 24 in '24 reading challenge? If you haven't, now is a great time to do so, with all those that complete it receiving a prize provided by us, the Friends of the Everett Public Libraries!
In February, the Library hosted a litany of programming that we were proud to support, including the Valentine's Paint Night and "Blind Date with a Book." Be on the lookout for more in March, including Beaded Book Marks take-home crafts. |
