As the budget preparation season gets underway,
people are understandably demanding fiscal responsibility. Reviewing our spending and allocations is important for ensuring investment in our libraries is strategic, and not wasteful. Comparing our practices to other libraries, we find that we could save considerably on printed library cards. Follow us on social media for updates to our plans for cost reductions! One of our thoughts is to remove the separation of the Parlin and Shute Libraries over the next year. Our vision is for residents to mend the division by renaming both libraries to The Bary.
Sincerely,
Kevin Sheehan |

They say March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb, but all this cold, dreary weather is testing that theory. However, sometimes the rainy days are great for curling up with a book, something we all can appreciate. There are signs of Spring, and April will hopefully prove to bring the warmer weather we're all waiting for!
March saw programing such as the Canvas & Jar Paint Night and Crafty Coasters supported by the Friends. We're all looking ahead to April with excitement, especially for the upcoming Great Everett Jewelry Exchange! |

Meet the Friends
Meet...Kathleen!
Kathleen is a life-long Everett resident, educated through Everett Public Schools and a long time patron of the Libraries. She has fond memories of attending Story Time and visiting the frogs in the frog tank at the Shute Library when she was young. When she's not working or spending time with family, she enjoys attending Library programing, travel, reading, and hanging out with friends. She's especially looking forward to spending the upcoming summer at the pool or on the beach with a good book.
Favorite Book: Psychological thrillers and mysteries, but especially those written by Tana French, Ruth Ware, Simone St. James, Riley Sager, and Megan Miranda. In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware and The Dublin Murder Squad Series by Tana French are favorites. |
