The library accepts donations for St. Vincent de Paul of Exeter and Lions Club International

Consider donating non-perishable food items to support St. Vincent de Paul of Exeter or usable eyeglasses to help Lions Club International.

Exeter Rotary Club is also accepting donations for old hearing aids. Donations will be used to help others at the Rotary Hearing Clinic in the Dominican Republic.

Donate your soda tabs to help the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth.

Items can be placed in the boxes on the table next to the Adult Information Desk.

The Wandering Cook on Tuesday, January 6 at 5:30 PM.

A no food cooking class. Come learn and talk about food from different cultures, techniques, and share recipes.

The Existential Shelf

Peter Vorkink, Chair of the Religion Department, Emeritus, at Phillips Exeter Academy, will lead a discussion on The Stranger and The Fall by Albert Camus.

The Stranger will be discussed on Monday, January 12th at 10 AM and The Fall will be discussed on Monday, January 26th at 10 AM.

My Summer with History: MLK in St. Augustine, Florida 1964 on Saturday, January 17 at 10 AM.

Peter Vorkink spent a month in the summer of 1964 working with Martin Luther King, Jr in St. Augustine, Florida, at a time of intense conflicts and controversies involving the civil rights of all Americans.

This family friendly program invites folks of all ages to connect with living history, and includes audiovisual materials drawn from Mr. Vorkink’s scrapbook assembled in 1964 as well as documentary video clips of the events in St. Augustine as they happened.

Exploring Poetry on Tuesday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 27 at 10:30 AM.

Curious about poetry? Unsure where to start? Come to this two-session series where participants will read and discuss poetry, discover hidden meanings, and find inspiration for their own works.

Led by Becky Moore, a retired English teacher. Poets to be discussed include Natasha Trethewey, Tracy K. Smith, Robert Frost, and other poet laureates.

Join longtime former public radio host Laura Knoy as she discusses her new historical novel, The Shopkeeper of Alsace. Heavily based on a true story, the book spans both World Wars, introducing readers to unknown places, forgotten history, and a real-life heroine they'll cheer for.

Pizza Fundraiser at the Hampton Community Oven at 845 Lafayette Road on Monday, January 26 from 4 - 9 PM.

Enjoy pizza and support your library! Dine at the Community Oven in Hampton from 4 PM - 9 PM on Monday, January 26, and the Friends of Exeter Public Library will receive 20% of all dine in and take-out food sales – excluding orders made via a delivery app.

Visit the Friends of the Library's table at the restaurant to learn more about the work the Friends do and to enter a raffle!

NH Philharmonic has changed its programming for February! Celebrate Valentine's Weekend with The Many Shades of Love on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22 at 2 PM. An afternoon of arias will conclude with Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. The orchestra also welcomes soloist Mark-Andrew Cleveland.

Redcoats and Rebels: New Hampshire and the American Revolution

Nowadays, few people know about Paul Revere’s first ride, which was to Portsmouth in December 1774, or that New Hampshire’s Provincial Congress adopted the first state constitution on January 5, 1776, essentially declaring independence six months before anyone else. In this illustrated program, NH Historical Society’s Mary Adams will explore this fascinating history.

Children can sign-up for Gamers Guild to play all manner of video games and compete against each other, or work together, in a safe and welcoming environment.

This program gives children the chance to interact and grow their gaming skills together.

Dungeons & Dragons: Red Herrings (Ages 8-12) meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 4 - 6 PM.

Children can sign-up for D&D to work together as a team to complete quests, slay monsters, and achieve personal and group goals within the game.

Through gameplay, players develop skills such as mathematics, teamwork, strategy, diplomacy, and multi-tasking.

Groups are open to all experience levels – beginners to experts. There is someone willing to teach at each group. 

Language at the Library

Language Tables: Korean first and third Tuesday, Spanish Wednesdays at 12:30, Japanese Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 3:30 PM, French Thursdays at 5:30 PM and Italian Saturdays at 10 AM.
