These surveys for adults and teens are anonymous and will be used for the 2026-2031 Exeter Public Library Long-Range Plan. Your voice really matters in planning what the library will look like in the next five years! All opinions are appreciated, even if you have never visited the library.

Consider donating non-perishable food items to support St. Vincent de Paul of Exeter or usable eyeglasses to help Lions Club International.

Exeter Rotary Club is also accepting donations for old hearing aids. Donations will be used to help others at the Rotary Hearing Clinic in the Dominican Republic.

Donate your soda tabs to help the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth.

Items can be placed in the boxes on the table next to the Adult Information Desk.

Playaway audiobooks available at Exeter Public Library

Check out the library's newest collection: Playaways! These devices make listening to audiobooks even easier. All you need is the preloaded device and a pair of headphones to listen to your book. The collection includes Adult fiction and nonfiction, plus a few Children's titles. Borrow one from the New Shelf today!

The Wandering Cook meets on Tuesday, June 16 at 5:30 PM.

A no food cooking class. Come talk and learn about food from different cultures, techniques, and share recipes.

Seacoast Storytellers meet on Tuesday, June 23 from 6:30 - 7:45 PM in the Study Room 3 of the library.

This summer, the National Library Service, in partnership with the Braille Institute Library, invites you to “Unearth a Story” for their 2026 Summer Reading Program. From June 15 - August 11, join us as we explore the histories, landscapes, and voices hidden just beneath the surface of the world around us.

Exeter Energy Committee Presents: Energy Efficiency Power Hour at the library on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30 PM.

The Energy Committee invites residents to join them at the library on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30 pm for their Energy Efficiency Power Hour. In this quarter's session, they will be talking about Exeter Community Power. They will explain the different parts of your electric bill, Exeter's role with the Community Power Coalition of NH, electric usage, and why your bill changes.

Revolutionary Kids Summer Camp: June 23 - June 25 and June 30 - July 2. Designed for ages 7-10. $100 per day or $250 for all three days.

OLLI Lunch & Learn with the Seacoast Village Project on Tuesday, June 30 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM at UNH Professional Development & Training at 230 Commerce Way Suite 103, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Join OLLI for a Lunch & Learn with Seacoast Village Project! The Seacoast Village Project is a network of older adults working together to improve their odds of being able to grow older in their own homes and communities by getting connected, getting smart, and helping each other out.

U.S. Independence 250th Celebration

America 250: Meet Deborah Sampson and Prince Whipple at the American Independence Center on Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 2 PM.

The 250 Celebration Commission invites the public to attend a free event at the American Independence Center on Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 2 PM. 

Hear stories told by historical interpreters as you meet war-time, once-indentured Deborah Sampson and enslaved Prince Whipple, unexpected heroes among the forgotten in our history books. Travel back in time in an immersive experience showing us some powerful forces that helped win the Revolutionary War and, in some cases, personal freedoms.

Abigail Adams was a fearless political thinker, advocate for women’s rights, and moral compass during the American Revolution and the birth of a nation. This performance will bring to life a beloved historical figure and educate all who attend.

The Exeter 250 Celebration Commission invites the public to attend a community reading of Frederick Douglass's "What to the Slave is Your Fourth of July" at the Exeter Town Hall on Saturday, June 27 at 12 PM. The event is free and open to the public.

Come to Recreation Park for an exciting afternoon including a Black Hawk Landing, Touch-A-Truck, Patriotic Giveaways, Flag Ceremony, and more!

Join the Exeter 250 Celebration Commission at the June 29 Exeter Brass Band Concert for free popsicles and patriotic giveaways.

Exeter Brass Band concerts: Monday nights in July at the Bandstand, Downtown Exeter. See this Exeter institution each summer on Monday evenings at the Bandstand, intersection of Front and Water Streets. An Exeter tradition since 1847. 

There will also be a special Tune & Fork Concert with patriotic themes at Swasey Parkway on Tuesday, June 30 at 5 PM.

Patriotic Movie Sing Along on Wednesday, July 8 at 5 PM.

Join the library for a patriotic sing along. The movie will be played in four parts of the library at the same time.

Teen Summer Reading 2026

June 15 - August 1

Free and open to all teens 12 - 18. Every time you check out, get two pieces of candy, a sticker or button, and raffle tickets for grand prize giveaways!

This year, mythical and folkloric creatures are coming to the library for Camp Cryptid! Check out the special themed events on Tuesdays at 3 PM, and stop by on Saturdays for Bonus Trivia!

Gaming at Exeter Public Library: Mondays - Taiwanese Mah Jongg at 1 PM and 5 PM. Tuesdays - 2 over 1 Bridge Lesson at 2 PM. Wednesdays - American Mah Jongg at 1 PM. Thursdays - American Standard Bridge at 10 AM. Every 2nd Saturday - Cribbage with Friends of EPL at 10 AM.

Want to learn how to play a game? Want to make new connections in town? Join any of the many gaming groups at the library! 

Groups are open to all experience levels – beginners to experts. There is someone willing to teach at each group. 

Language at the Library

Language Tables: Korean first and third Tuesday, Spanish Wednesdays at 12:30, Japanese Every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 4:30 PM, French Thursdays at 5:30 PM and Italian Saturdays at 10 AM.

Interested in teaching a language? We are always looking for teachers or native speakers willing to start a language table. If you're interested, email exeterplprograms@gmail.com.

Lamprey Health Care has partnered with St. Vincent de Paul of Exeter to make weekly visits to the Community Assistance Center at 53 Lincoln Street on Fridays from 9 AM - 12 PM. Walk-in registration – no appointment needed!
