January 2026 Happenings @ the APL
Books, movies, games, & SO MUCH MORE, YOUR library has something for everyone!

Letter from the Director
As you know by now, the Attleboro Library is OPEN! Visitors are coming in and marvling at the new look. Staff have been busy reassembling computers and phones, creating displays and welcoming familiar faces. I'm always so impressed with how much Attleboro LOVES its library!
We are still moving out of temporary quarters while setting up North Main Street. Please be patient if we are slow to respond to emails, phone calls and to get your favorite library service up and running again. I can assure everyone the full calendar of events will be back next month, including a date for a grand reopening celebration!
Before signing off I want to say an enormous thank you to the staff, board, Friends and volunteers of the library. As always, we couldn't have done this without you! We are also grateful for the collaboration with city hall, the Recreation Center, the Council on Aging, Attleboro Public Schools, Attleboro High School and the Attleboro Norton YMCA. You are the best colleagues a library could ask for! Shout outs also go to the SAILS Network and the neighboring SAILS libraries that graciously welcomed so many extra visitors. And to the Municipal Building Commission, our project manager, LLB Architects, Capital Flooring and Meyer Moving, THANK YOU for taking such good care of the building and the staff. It was truly a pleasure to be on this adventure!
I hope to see you in the building examining the new floors!

Reading Challenges for 2026
The New Year is a great time to reset, make yearly resolutions, and build consistent reading habits. Choosing to participate in a reading challenge will help encourage you to stay on track. It’s also a really fun way to discover new favorite books and join a community of enthusiastic readers. There are so many challenges to choose from. Check out the links below to choose the perfect one for you. It could be as easy as setting a goal of your chosen number of books on Goodreads, to matching books to a genre, or filling prompts with specific types of books. Whichever challenge you decide to participate in, we’re here to help! I recommend starting to meet your 2026 goals with one of 2025's biggest books you haven't read yet. Try:

The most borrowed adult fiction book, ebook, and downloaded audiobook was The Women by Kristin Hannah - for the second year in a row!  The DVD that went out the most was the TV Show, The Big Bang Theory. Nonfiction readers were all reading The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. Young Adults were borrowing the graphic novel Heartstopper by Alice Oseman.
