With the Town’s support, the Leach Library continues to make steady progress on important building improvements and remediation efforts at its facility located at 276 Mammoth Road. To allow this work to be completed safely and thoroughly, the building is expected to remain closed to the public through the summer. The Leach Library will continue to be open to the public in the Londonderry Police Department Community Room at 268A Mammoth Road while the work is completed.
Extensive mold testing identified areas requiring remediation in sections with previous water damage in the Main Reading Room, as well as in parts of the original building that experienced deferred maintenance, including the lower level and Children’s Room. The testing in these areas did not indicate broader airborne contamination.
Work will continue over the coming months, including completion of remediation recommendations, installation of new carpeting in the Main Reading Room, and fresh interior painting. These upgrades will help ensure a refreshed, welcoming space for the community when the building reopens.
Library staff remain committed to providing excellent service and meaningful programming throughout the summer and look forward to welcoming patrons both at the satellite location and at events across the community.

Summer Reading 2026
Summer Reading is still on! While the building work continues, library staff are excited to bring the community together for a full slate of summer programming. The annual Summer Reading Program open to all ages returns this year with the theme “Plant a Seed, Read!”
Registration begins Monday, June 15, at the library’s temporary satellite location in the Londonderry Police Department Community Room. A variety of engaging programs and events are planned, with many taking place at alternate indoor venues as well as new outdoor locations. Separate registration will be required for individual events. Whether you are 5, 15, or 105, there's room to thrive in our Summer Reading Program!
About the performers: The group includes past members of the National Dance Ensemble, Brekete Ensemble and the Shidaa cultural troupe. At each performance the Ensemble brings Highlife music, West African drumming and dance to vivid life. The goal of the group is to produce extraordinary music and great performances that enlighten the audience about African culture and music.

The Leach Library is incredibly excited to have the Akwaaba Ensemble perform traditional African drumming and dance for our community! In the case of rain, the performance will be held in the high school cafeteria. Who was the calligrapher that wrote the Declaration of Independence? How did they write during the American Revolution? What tools did they use? We will explore these questions and more in this hands-on 90-minute program with calligrapher Debby Reelitz. Participants will get the opportunity to write in script, use a dip nib and ink and scribe a line from the Declaration of Independence. Discovering New England Stone Walls with Kevin Gardner

Kevin Gardner, author of "The Granite Kiss," explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways that they and other dry-stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed over time, and their significance to the famous New England landscape. Along the way, Kevin occupies himself building a miniature wall or walls on a tabletop, using tiny stones from a five-gallon bucket. This program has been generously cosponsored by the Londonderry Historical Society.

The Leach Library is pleased to announce the addition of two new Limited Time museum passes now available to the community. Patrons can enjoy access to the Wright Museum of World War II in Wolfeboro, NH and the Institite of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston, expanding opportunities for educational and cultural enrichment. These passes were generously donated by the Friends of the Leach Library.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dragoneers Club

Calling all teen and tween adventurers! Step into a world of magic, monsters, and epic quests and join the Dragoneers Club for a standalone quest. Whether you're a seasoned hero or a first-time adventurer, there's a place for you at the table!
Each one-hour Art Studio session invites participants to engage in pencil drawing and sketching during open studio time for independent projects. All materials are provided, including high-quality sketching pencils, paper, colored pencils, and additional drawing tools.
Join library staff for a one-hour interactive coding session! Use color coding tiles to direct Indi through a course while learning the basics of programming. In addition to the activity, there will be open coding time for teens and tweens to experiment with various platforms and programming styles.
Students are invited to our book discussion of "George Washington's Secret Six: The Spies Who Saved America" (Young Readers Adaptation) written by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger. All participants will receive a free copy of the book to keep!
