Plethora of Pens (Writing Group) June 1st; 6:30-7:30pm This is an open writing group, walk-ins are welcome, all writing levels, all genres. If you just want to write your memoirs for your family, that's great. If you want to write the next breakout series, fantastic. Going to write the Great American Novel, come on in. We typically cover a particular topic every month, whether it's writing craft or business-focused. We are NOT a critique group, although we do occasional group critiques, mostly to improve our ability to critique others. Registration is not required. |

Creating Adaptive Books June 3rd; 6:00-7:00pm We are excited to host Rita Angelini, author of An Unexpected Normal, to teach us how to make adaptive books and talk about her journey to making this her passion. Adaptive books are books that have been altered to make them more accessible for people with special needs. |
Democracy Will Not Come: The 1942 Lynching of James Person in Edgar Il June 15th; 6:00-8:00pm Join us in hearing from Renatto V. Carr PH.D. Historian and Lecturer at Southern Illinois University. Dr. Carr will present his research about the lynching of James person as one the earliest twentieth-century lynchings outside the south to result in a federal indictment and conviction of a group of white people for violating a black persons Civil Rights. |

The Friends of the Library meet once a month at the library. The Friends are a group of volunteers who share a common belief that the library is important to the intellectual and cultural growth of the community. The members of this non-profit organization work to increase public awareness of all library services and assist in bringing funds to the library for special needs. Membership forms are available at the Front Desk. |
