What to Expect This Month
That slight chill you feel in the morning is a welcomed announcement that September is here! School busses are making their runs, footballs are being pumped up for action, and the pull of the outdoors is almost impossible to ignore. The library is a perfect spot to visit if you're compelled to enjoy the many outdoor activities the Commonwealth has to offer. We have books on camping, fishing, biking and hiking in our beautiful state. Come by the library to check them out. Also be on the lookout for the following programs.
Saturday, September 12, 11 a.m.*
We kick off September with a fun program that will have kids designing and crafting a 3D treasure map while learning helpful map making skills. This program would be perfect for kids aged 5 to 15.
Thursday, September 17, 6 p.m.*
Ms. Whitney returns to the library to teach a felting program. This program for Adults and Teens will learn how to craft a precious felt bird. This program is full at the moment, but the waiting list is open.
Wednesday, September 23, 7 p.m.
Peter Tlusty, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, will bring telescopes for this star gazing program. Tlusty will offer a short talk about the solar system before the viewing. This event will be a great opportunity for your entire family to enjoy the evening outside!
Thursday, September 24, 6 p.m.
Learn more about the history of our area during this discussion. No registration required.
Saturday, September 25, 10:30 a.m.
An IRS representative will join us to discuss the many ways scammers use the internet to find unsuspecting targets. This program will teach you the methods that could save you from falling victim to internet scammers.
Of course, our reoccurring monthly programs will be continuing during September. Stitch Squad will meet September 16 at 6 p.m. Story Time will meet each Tuesday at 11 a.m. We'll even have a special story time activity with Daisy, a trained therapy dog on September 22.
Lastly, we're lucky to have Beth Hayes back to teach her Chair Yoga program starting September 14 at 2 p.m. If you're at all interested in the benefits of yoga, this program would be a great introduction.
We hope you enjoy this start of the fall, and we hope you continue to visit our library! We're working hard to keep the most desirable books on the shelf and schedule programs our customers will find interesting.
