From the Director... Tom Shilts We've got something fun planned for Valentine's Day, and you don't have to be a hopeless romantic to participate. The activity is called "Blind Date With a Book." Beginning February 10 and continuing through the February 21, the library will have a big display featuring adult books that are wrapped in red or pink paper. You won't be able to tell the author or the title of the book, but there are single-word subject terms, clipart, and short descriptions giving you information about it. So if you like romance books, you might want to choose one with a descriptor like "relationships." Additionally, you'll be able to tell which staff member recommended the title. So, for example, if you generally like the same books as Nikki, try one of hers. One of the points of this program is to encourage you to try an author or a genre you wouldn't usually pick. With "Blind Date With a Book," you'll be taking a reading adventure. And if you don't like the book, just bring it back. No harm done. The best thing is, even if the book isn't great, you still get the piece of chocolate that's attached to the wrapping. Happy reading!

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Our Friends of the Library members play such an important role in supporting our library. We are so grateful for them. If you are interested in becoming a member we are holding a drive through the month of March, and everyone that signs up will be put into a drawing to win $25.00 towards an auction item in our annual Christmas silent auction next December. The Friends of the Library is an organization that raises money to help put on programs and buy materials for the library. Being a member you have the opportunity to volunteer as much or a little as you wish. Our members have volunteered at summer reading program events, baked goodies for bake sales and programs, and run the silent auction, just to name a few.
