Lantern Craft and Walk
|
The lantern walk is a tradition that celebrates hope, kindness, and the light within us. In many cultures a fall lantern walk traditionally occurs during autumn harvest festivals. These festivals represent the quiet beauty of the coming winter season and remind us to shine our light and share our joy with others during the darker half of the year. The Children’s Room will be hosting our own lantern walk with the intention of bringing community together in a mindful and meaningful way. Stop by the children’s room anytime during open hours on Monday, October 6 or Tuesday, October 7 to decorate your own lantern, we will provide all the supplies.
| |
On Wednesday October 8th everyone who has made a lantern at home or at the Library will meet on the library lawn at **6:00pm** we will then begin our lantern walk **around the block**. Ideas for homemade lanterns can be found online. We will have plenty of extra tealights and glow sticks for lanterns. Light refreshments will be served following the walk.

Experience Art Returns
Portrait Prints | Thursday, October 23 3:30pm-4:30pm
Ages 6-12 Registration is required |
|
Experience art (or process art) engages children in the experience and the process involved in creating, rather than the end result. Children are invited to experiment with provided materials, invent, and create. It honors the child’s individual expression and offers the opportunity to explore without restrictions. During these art sessions, there is no right or wrong way to create. Experience art is meant to be fun and playful. It fosters independence and self-regulation. It encourages creative thinking and learning and helps to build confidence and motor skills.
Kids should come dressed with the potential to get messy! They may or may not be bringing home a finished product; however, there will be an opportunity for parents to take photographs if desired.
This is a fully independent program. A parent must remain in the Children’s Room if a child is under the age of 10. | |
