Secrets of Romani Fortune Telling: Book Talk & Tarot Workshop
with Jezmina Von Thiele
Wednesday, November 12th 6:00-7:30PM
Community Room
Join author, educator, and fortune teller Jezmina Von Thiele for an evening of story, spirit, and tradition. Jezmina will share what it was like to grow up in a multi-generational Romani fortune-telling family, and how that lived experience informed Secrets of Romani Fortune Telling—part memoir, part practical guide, and part cultural reclamation.
After the talk, enjoy a free 30-minute workshop on how to read tarot intuitively, rooted in Romani practices and accessible for all levels. There will also be time for Q&A.
The Roma—also known as Romani people—are a diasporic ethnic group originating in Northern India and spread throughout Europe and the Americas. For centuries, Roma have survived persecution through trades like fortune-telling, passed down through generations. This event honors that history, offering insight into a living tradition that is often misunderstood or appropriated. Come learn, listen, and connect to an ancestral practice that’s both personal and historical. Bring a tarot deck if you have one (there will be a limited number provided) and bring a notebook and pen to take notes if desired, or you can take notes on your phone.
The Red Cross will be here from 10-2:30PM for a Blood Drive. Please register through the red cross to reserve a time slot to donate!
