Join the Somerville Public Library and a representative from the ACLU for a workshop on understanding your legal rights in the US. Everyone has basic rights under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws. Learn about your right to be free from discrimination based on race, ethnicity, or national origin, and how the law protects you. This workshop will cover: - What does discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, or national origin look like?
- What your rights are and how to exercise them
- What to do if you believe your rights have been violated

Bilingual Storytelling: Day of the Dead

Central Library AuditoriumBilingual Storytelling for Day of the Dead looks at I remember Abuelito: A Day of the Death Story. This Mexican holiday is a celebration where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. In this story a young girl prepares to honor her beloved grandfather. She misses him very much and is excited for his spirit to visit that night. This program is a family oriented Spanish immersion for those who practice the language or for those who want to learn. Native American Artifacts and (LIVE!) Birds of Prey Saturday, November 18, 2023 - 2:00 PMCentral Library Auditorium Wingmasters returns to the Central Library with their Native American Artifacts and Birds of Prey program! This program combines 4 LIVE birds of prey with authentic indigenous artifacts, many of museum quality. This program shows how different Native American cultures transformed natural materials into objects of beauty and drama, from shields and headdresses to clothing and jewelry.
