Milne Mail: David & Joyce Milne Public Library, Weekly Newsletter
Friday, October 25, 2025

Hello, and Happy Friday!

In the year since we lost our dear friend Ginny, the Friends of the David and Joyce Milne Public Library Board has been thinking of ways to honor her.

The Friends board voted to match the generous outpouring of memorial gifts from friends near and far, giving us a fund of $15,000.

The Ginny Fund, as it has been named, will be dispersed in the form of grants to individuals and organizations to support programs and services that benefit the Northern Berkshire community in the areas of literacy, civic mindedness, and access to mental health resources. This page on the Friend's website describes the fund in more detail, including important deadlines and a link to the application form.

We ask for your help in spreading the word or even applying for a grant if you have an appropriate initiative.

In other updates, tomorrow, Saturday, October 25th, the Williamstown Farmer's Market will be hosting a Halloween themed market. Activities include pumpkin painting, a Halloween story corner, market trick or treating, and fortune telling. All activities run from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Halloween at the Library 🎃

It's Halloween again! Why not celebrate at the library?

Come show off your costume, do some tricks, and get some treats Tuesday, October 28th at 5:30 p.m.!

We'll have a short, not-too-spooky story time at 6:30, and some fun crafts to make.

This event is for families, babies, toddlers, kids, tweens, and teens. As always, we thank Friends of the Milne Library for their generous support!

Film Screening and Discussion 🎬

Enjoy a film screening and discussion of "The Poison in Us All" on Thursday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. The discussion will be led by Aaron Maruzzo, a staff scientist at the Silent Spring Institute in Newton, MA, and a 2017 Williams College alum.

“The Poison in Us All,” a documentary by Bloomberg Investigates, explores the origins of PFAS or “forever chemicals” and how they are putting our lives and the lives of future generations at risk.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos

Images Cinema and Movies at the Milne present a bonus showing of Coco for Dia de los Muertos on Saturday, November 1st at 1:00 p.m.

A boy named Miguel dreams of becoming a famous guitar player, despite the misgivings of his close-knit family. When his lofty ambitions cause him to run afoul of a curse, he must journey into the Land of the Dead to seek forgiveness from his ancestors.

Popcorn will be available! As part of an effort to become more sustainability-focused, we encourage you to bring your own (reasonably sized!) bowl.
