Are you considering cutting down on food waste? According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (nrdc.org), "Household food waste accounts for 40 to 50 percent of all food wasted in the United States."
But fear not, Williamstown residents. There is so much we can do in our literal and proverbial backyards to make a difference!
Learn how you can make a difference by reading our blog post full of resources.

Join Our “Coral Crochet Circle”
Starting June 6 at 2:00 p.m., in partnership with Williams College's Berkshires Satellite Reef project, we will be hosting weekly "Coral Crochet Circles" for our patrons to contribute to the reef!
The Berkshires Satellite Reef — part of the worldwide Crochet Coral Reef by artists Christine and Margaret Wertheim and the Institute for Figuring — is a communal art project entailing the crowd-sourced creation of a life-size coral reef made entirely out of crochet.
No prior skills in crochet necessary – beginners welcome!
The reef will be exhibited at Williams College in the ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance as an immersive installation in the spring of 2026. All ages and members of all Berkshires communities (and beyond) are welcome to participate by making a coral crochet piece!
Additionally, we have a basket in the library where you can donate yarn that will be used for the satellite reef.
