Milne Mail: David & Joyce Milne Public Library, Weekly Newsletter
Friday, November 7, 2025

Hello, and Happy Friday!

We're hosting a new library reading group that will cover all kinds of "sustainabili-reads."

We'll read and discuss books and articles about topics including climate change, amazing natural phenomena, the plastic crisis, wildlife and more!

At our first meeting, Tuesday, November 18th at 6:00 p.m., we'll talk about The Milkweed Lands: an Epic Story of One Plant, its Nature and Ecology.

Please request a copy soon, read as much as you can and join us at our inaugural meeting. Can't find one? Ask us for help! You do not have to sign-up to participate.

Please Note: We will be closed Tuesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. All online resources will still be available. We will reopen Wednesday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m.

Now Showing: The Wiz! 🎬

A young kindergarten teacher finds herself in the Land of Oz, where she is greeted by Munchkins. As she journeys down the Yellow Brick Road in search of the Wiz, she encounters a scarecrow, a tin man and a cowardly lion.

Rated G, runtime 133 minutes.

Popcorn will be available! As part of an effort to become more sustainability-focused, we encourage you to bring your own (reasonably sized!) bowl.

Prep Your Spring Garden!

Brighten up your garden with home-made flower seed bombs Saturday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m.

Late fall and early winter are the best time of the year to throw out seed balls that will germinate and begin to grow (fingers crossed) in spring.

We will use Second Chance compost, white clay, and a mix of northeast native seeds to make little seed balls that you can take home and grow.

Fun for the whole family, especially if you're okay with getting your hands dirty - just dress for mess!

EMS and What They Do

Join the next Citizens' Academy session Tuesday, November 18th at 5:30 p.m. with  Emergency Management Services to tell us all about the newly formed Northern Berkshire EMS.

They will discuss:

- Mutual aid, what it means and how it works

- Education requirements and billing practices

- Any related topics that the audience wants to discuss or inquire about!

This series is co-hosted by the Milne Public Library and the Williamstown League of Women Voters.
