Hello, and Happy Friday!

Join us Wednesday, April 15th at 6:00 p.m., for a poetry reading by Vermonters David Crews and Piper Campbell.


In celebration of National Poetry Month and Earth Day, David Crews will be reading from his newest work Hoosic River: A poem.


David Crews lives and works at Clear Brook Farm, an organic fruit and vegetable farm located at the edge of the Hoosic River watershed in the Vermont valley. Piper Campbell lives on a 7th generation family home in Bennington, VT.

  • We will be closed today, Friday, April 10th for an in-staff training day. We will reopen tomorrow, Saturday, April 11th at 10:00 a.m.

  • There are two weeks left for participants to express their interest to join our first Cultural Showcase! We are looking for global representation specifically in the Asian, Oceana, and African diaspora. If you are, or know of someone who is, interested, please email Brianna at bchristie@cwmars.org.

  • The Friends of the Milne Public Library is hosting a Classical Music CD sale tomorrow, Saturday, April 11th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in their distribution center. All CDs are priced at $1 each. This is a great way to help support the Milne and build a CD collection at unbeatable prices.

    • There will also be a variety of piano sheet music including: Gershwin; Rogers & Hart;Steven Sondheim; Bill Evans; Chopin; Beethoven;Lerner & Loewe; Jerome Kern and others.

Learn How to Soil Block for Spring

Thinking about starting seeds indoors? Join us Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. to learn about the benefits of using soil blocks instead of plastic trays. In this workshop, you will make a variety of soil blocks to take home. 


All materials will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary. Space is limited, so please sign up below!


This workshop is led by Paulina Borrego of the UMass Aggie Seed Library and The Common Seed Project of Western MA.

Birding for Beginners 🐦

Experience the excitement of discovering new things and deepen your connection to the natural world by taking up a new hobby: birding! 


This indoor-outdoor workshop hosted by Mass Audubon Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. will share ideas, tips to start enjoying birds in your own way, and give you a chance to practice fundamental birding skills during your next outdoor adventure.


This event is one of numerous Flight Path programs, an initiative the library is participating in through the Spring.

Dell Reconnect - Recycle your Computer!

The Dell Reconnect program is back at the library starting April 13th through April 25th!


You can drop off any brand of used computer equipment at the library during our open hours, just as you would at a participating Goodwill donation center. It's free and you'll get a receipt for tax purposes!


What's more, you'll be helping protect the environment and benefitting your community at the same time.

Join the Spice Club 🔥

We've launched a monthly spice club! This program allows patrons to try a new spice every month. Venture to a new country to learn the spice's origins, process, tasting notes, and what it pairs well with.


In addition to learning about the spice, you'll have the opportunity to try it using a recipe and helpful cooking tips. We also want you to share your creation and thoughts about the monthly spice and recipe. Read the blog post to learn more!

Celebrate 30 Years of National Poetry Month! 🎭

The Milne Public Library is celebrating National Poetry Month with our yearly Poetry Month Challenge. This year's challenge is to create an ACROSTIC POEM.


An acrostic poem is a poem in which certain letters of each line combine to spell out a word when read vertically.  


Stop by to pick up a packet with examples and a guide for creating your poem. Submit your poem by May 1st to enter a prize drawing! Read the blog post to learn more!
