Hello, and Happy Friday!

It's October and this month is filled with exciting programs that you don't want to miss!

Next week, October 5th - 11th, is Banned Books Week. The annual event highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community - librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types - in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.

To highlight Banned Books Week, you'll find a display of banned books at the front of the library that you can check out. Test your knowledge about banned books and entertainment by joining us for trivia night Tuesday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m.!

Midnight at the Masquerade

Celebrate spooky season at the library as we're hosting a murder mystery night! We'll be serving adult beverages (most likely beer and wine) and hors d'oeuvres!

Attend the Billionaires’ Club Annual Masquerade Ball and help get this soiree back on track by trading clues with your guests, gathering information, and solving the crime before the masked menace gets away! Evening wear, ball gowns, Venetian masks, suits, and tuxes are what to wear to this high class night of masks and murder. Get ready for a glamorous evening of mystery, intrigue, and murder at this masquerade ball murder mystery party!

Feel free to dress up to get into character, though it is not required.

Are You a Songwriter? 🎶

Singer and songwriter Bernice Lewis will be joining us Saturday, October 11th at 10:30 a.m. to talk about the structure of songs, and why it works.

She deconstructs several well-known songs as well as her own work, analyzing components, story line, use of poetic devices, chord structure, melody, and talks about how contemporary song has evolved historically. Bernice will be including information for musicians, non-musicians, and would-be songwriters.

Sign up is required! If you’re interested in critique, bring one unfinished song and a lyric sheet.
