Hello, and Happy Friday!

We're hiring a part-time Coordinator for our future MakerSpace, Studio1095!

The David & Joyce Milne Public Library is seeking a dynamic, creative, and community-focused individual to lead Studio1095, our vibrant MakerSpace dedicated to artistic exploration and hands-on learning.

Studio1095 is an exciting new and growing initiative, and this position offers a unique opportunity to shape its direction from the ground up. The Coordinator will play a key role in developing the space, selecting and learning equipment, and creating programs that reflect the interests and needs of our community. Planned areas of focus include fiber and textile arts, visual arts, creative technologies, audio-recording, and more.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about making, eager to experiment and learn, isn't afraid to try new things, and excited to bring others along in the creative process.
In this role, you will:

  • Help design, develop, and grow Studio1095 as an inclusive and welcoming creative space
  • Create and lead engaging, accessible programming across arts and creative technologies
  • Learn, maintain, and support a variety of tools and equipment
  • Foster a collaborative environment for makers of all skill levels
  • Build partnerships with local artists, organizations, and community members
  • Promote the space and celebrate the creativity of the community

The ideal candidate is an artist, maker, or creative thinker who enjoys working with people, values collaboration, and is excited by the opportunity to build something new.

Now Showing: "Wild Hope: Building for Birds" 🎬

Join us Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m.

for a screening of "Wild Hope: Building for Birds," a 16-minute documentary about the effect of building glass on bird populations and innovative solutions to this problem.

Afterwards, we will do some fun and easy hands-on activities to help keep our feathered friends safe:

- put birds in order based on wing span, speed, and distance they can migrate

- make window decals with soap and glue to discourage birds from hitting windows; can be decorated later!

These activities are great for kids!  Door prizes include window collision tape and a Sibley Backyard Birds matching game!
