Hello, and Happy Friday! |
On Monday, April 8th, an eclipse will be visible throughout many parts of North America. This means that the moon will come between us and the sun, and the sky is expected to darken for about two hours. Here in Williamstown, there will be a "partial solar eclipse" with a 97% magnitude, occurring between 2:13 p.m. and 4:37 p.m.
The library has a limited number of eclipse glasses available for distribution (don't look at the sun directly during an eclipse!). They are now available at the circulation desk if you'd like to pick some up; up to three per family please. (Also, if you are able to return any lightly-used glasses, we will send them along to Astronomers Without Borders, a group that collects them for re-use).
For more information and links to resources on the eclipse, read our recent blog post!

April Exhibition |
| Starting April 1st, Rico Dovey's art show A Year in My Front Yard will be exibiting at the library.
About his work, Rico says: I first learned photography and darkroom skills while a graduate student in 1969. Then having used the analytic side of my brain for over thirty years as a research |
scientist, I began exploring my aesthetic side in 2005 while learning to paint with diverse media.
When my deteriorating eyesight forced me to give up painting, I eventually turned to making "Photo Paintings". Each work starts with a picture I take on my phone camera on my daily walk with my dog, Hattie. My "paintings" printed with archival ink on canvas, capture the way I now see the world.
Rico would also like to invite members of the public to attend his reception taking place between 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th in the library's community room. | |
