This 5-week course explores the basics of using your smartphone’s digital camera. You’ll learn how to take pictures, where they’re stored on your device, and how to delete them. You’ll also go over tips for taking selfies, recording videos, and sharing your photos! This course also introduces some fundamental photography principles about composition and lighting. Please note: this course will focus only on the smartphone’s camera and will not cover other uses for your smartphone.


Prerequisites: You will need to bring your own smartphone for this course, so you should be somewhat comfortable using it. You must bring an iPhone running iOS 9 or later or an Android running OS 9 or later to participate.

We'll read aloud and discuss the book, and make personalized burrito bowls to enjoy.  


No reading in advance is required, and participants will get a free copy of the book to keep at the end of the program.

Teen Creative Writing Workshop

Helping you grow your writing and workout your imagination is the goal of this 6-session course. BPL Teen Space Writer-in-Residence Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig will lead participants through writing exercises and feedback sessions designed to provide an encouraging space for creative risk taking. No experience necessary. All writing genres welcome. Come work on poetry, prose, scripts, D&D scenarios, or any other writing that benefits from feedback. Those who sign up in advance and commit to all 6 sessions will receive a free copy of Austin Kleon's Steal Like an Artist. Email Amanda at amandaa@bristol-library.org to sign up.


NOTE: Our workshop space will be an analog, technology-free zone. All laptops, phones, and tablets must be stored and silenced.
