This group is open to all skill levels, from smartphone snappers to professionals. Meetings will be held on the third Thursday of every month in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room on the upper level. Guest speakers and field trips will be scheduled throughout the year.
For our March meeting we will discuss creating deceptive photos using forced perspective. Here is a great article that explains the technique and gives some simple examples to try Forced Perspective Photography: Complete Guide 2026. Our March Photo Challenge is Photo Fakery. Bring in photos you have taken for the challenge on a flash drive or email photos to rita@bristol-library.org before March 18. We will share and discuss the photos during the meeting.
This is a three-part workshop series dedicated to building a sustainable creative career.
Week one will focus on clarifying your values and setting the foundation of your creative business, in week two we will dive into structuring your business for financial stability, and week three is all about branding and marketing so you can sell your work with confidence. Each week is meant to build upon the last, but if there is one area you are more interested in learning, you can also attend the classes independently.
This workshop is best for people looking to move from the hobby stage into starting a creative business. This workshop is best for people ages 18 & up.
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll practice chatting with Google Gemini using the mobile app. We’ll go over tips for writing effective questions, or prompts, as well as different use cases, from drafting emails to travel planning. We’ll also practice using the app’s voice features, including Gemini Live. Finally, we’ll explore the privacy settings and discuss best practices to ensure you can use the app safely and confidently.

This 5-week course explores the basics of using your smartphone’s digital camera. You’ll learn how to take pictures, where they’re stored on your device, and how to delete them. You’ll also go over tips for taking selfies, recording videos, and sharing your photos! This course also introduces some fundamental photography principles about composition and lighting. Please note: this course will focus only on the smartphone’s camera and will not cover other uses for your smartphone.
Prerequisites: You will need to bring your own smartphone for this course, so you should be somewhat comfortable using it. You must bring an iPhone running iOS 9 or later or an Android running OS 9 or later to participate.

BPL Teen Space Writer-in-Residence Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig will lead participants through writing exercises and feedback sessions designed to provide an encouraging space for creative risk taking. No experience necessary. All writing genres welcome. Come work on poetry, prose, scripts, D&D scenarios, or any other writing that benefits from feedback.
