Do you own a sewing machine but feel unsure about how to operate it? This workshop is designed to boost your confidence and help you become more familiar with your machine.


Required supplies:

  • sewing machine in good working order with power cord, presser foot and bobbins, and needle in the machine 

  • polycotton thread

  • scissors

  • at least 1 yard of 100% Cotton fabric

  • seam ripper

  • sewing straight pins

  • writing pen

  • paper or notebook

  • ruler or tape measure

The instructor will bring an iron, pressing board, and a cutting board with a rotary cutter and ruler.

3D Printing At a Glance

In this class you will learn about the Jones Center's 3D printing services.

We’re excited to host a free digital skills workshop and laptop distribution for members of our community.


Hosted by Bristol Public Library's Jones Center, in collaboration with Senior Planet from AARP, and AT&T, this program will help participants build practical technology skills and receive a refurbished laptop to continue learning at home.


The Computer Essentials Course is intended for adults 60 and over providing hands-on support with everyday digital skills, including using the internet, staying safe online, accessing helpful resources, and building confidence with technology.

Teen Creative Writing Workshop

Helping you grow your writing and workout your imagination is the goal of this 7-session course, which wraps up with a final two sessions in October. BPL Teen Space Writer-in-Residence Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig will lead participants through writing exercises and feedback sessions designed to provide an encouraging space for creative risk taking. No experience necessary. All writing genres welcome. Come work on poetry, prose, scripts, D&D scenarios, or any other writing that benefits from feedback. Those who sign up in advance and commit to all 7 sessions will receive a free copy of Lynda Barry's What It Is.

Join us to read from This Place Kills Me by Mariko Tamaki and Nicole Goux, a graphic novel about an outcast teen at a boarding school investigating the death of the star of the school’s play. We'll read aloud and discuss the book, and make apple crisp to enjoy.

Tabletop Role-playing Adventure – Honey Heist

Honey Heist is a fun and funny TTRPG (tabletop role-playing game; D&D is the best-known example) where you roll dice and play as a group of criminal bears trying to complete the perfect heist…to steal honey! It’s simple to learn and play, so it’s a great intro to TTRPGs if you’re new to them, and a lot of fun for experienced players as well. We’ll be playing Honey Heist as a single-session adventure for ages 11-18; no experience is necessary and beginners are welcome!
