September 2025 |
 |
It's September, which means we have one whole month of Minerva under our belts! As we're all still learning this system, we'll be hosting a number of Minerva Info Sessions to help everyone take better advantage of this excellent resource. Read on for more information!
September is also National Library Card Sign-Up month! Encourage the people in your life to take advantage of the incredible resources available at your local library - from books, DVDs, and puzzles you can take home to e-books and digital media you can access online - you can borrow it all with your library card. Even items like telescopes and STEM kits! We're proud to make all this available to you as a library patron.
As you've noticed, there has been a lot of work around the exterior of our buildings lately. Saco Public Works has been diligently regrading and improving our parking lot, complete with new sidewalks and curbs. Our final paving and line painting will happen in the next week or so, weather depending. Saco Parks and Rec helped take care of a massive tree, the first of several dead trees that will be removed in the coming months. We're sad to see our lovely trees go, but we'll be replanting in the spring to grow shady reading spots for the next generations of Library patrons. All of this work makes us think about how DLSM can use its outdoor space. If you have any thoughts or ideas please send them our way!

We're closing in on our first month as a member of Minerva- wow, that flew by! We've loved seeing our patrons dive right in, with a steady flow of books circulating in our building and beyond. |
|
|
That said, we realize that many are still adjusting and learning how to better use this new resource (us included!). Next month we will be offering a series of Minerva Info Sessions, where a DLSM staff member will demonstrate the basics of using your online Minerva account - including logging in, placing items on hold, renewing items, and more. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and troubleshoot too! Our first session will take place on Tuesday,
September 2nd from 5:30-7:30pm in the Deering Room.
Additional sessions will be held on Wed,, September 17th from 3:00-4:30 PM and Monday, September 29th from 10:00-11:30 AM. |
