APRIL 2025 | LIBRARY NEWS

NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Happy Spring!
You may notice our newsletter looks a little different this month. We are excited to introduce Library Aware to our patrons and share all of its wonderful features. The main service our patrons will enjoy is that it keeps you up to date with all the new books coming out & recommends books based on what you like. Soon you will be able to sign up to receive an email with book recommendations for your favorite genres. You’ll also notice at the bottom of our website, you can see the New York Times Bestseller book jackets. They are constantly changing and if you click on the image, it will take you directly to our catalog so you can see if it’s available to check out. We hope you will like the new format as much as we do!

At the library, we have been busy! We are wrapping up our annual book sale, completing inventory and rearranging a few things. Keep a look out for some changes coming soon in Children’s Department-just in time for Summer Reading 2025!

Additionally, the week of April 6 is National Library Week, which is a celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. I don’t know about you, but I never want to imagine a world without libraries & this is our week to shine! Drop us a note and let us know what YOU love about the library.

In light of honoring the value of libraries, I want to reassure you that we plan to offer you the same amazing library experience you are accustomed to, regardless of what happens at the federal government level. In the words of Mel Robbins and her highly popular book, The Let Them Theory, “Focusing on what you can’t control makes you stressed. Focusing on what you can control makes you powerful.” We’re focused on providing our library community the best service possible

My favorite book I read this month was The Favorites, by Layne Fargo. Check it out next time you are in! I also have to confess that I pulled the book Muggie Maggie, by Beverly Cleary from the book sale and put it in my office. I loved reading Beverly Cleary books as a kid, including this one and my daughter’s name is Maggie-so it had to be mine. Why is it so hard to let go of favorite books?

Happy Reading, Friends
