APRIL 2026 | LIBRARY NEWS
Director's Note-

We are so excited to finally announce that we are joining Missouri Evergreen, as of April 9, 2026!  You have probably noticed something has been going on the last few months, as we have re-barcoded our entire collection and are issuing new library cards to everyone.  This has all been in preparation to join the MO Evergreen consortium.  You can read a little more about MEC below.  We can't wait for you to experience access to over 4 million items in a shared catalog AND we have a new card catalog (and app) that is user friendly and allows patrons to place their own holds. We had been using our old system for 25+ years, with very little updates, so we are ready for this change!  This project is made possible through a $48,689 grant.
This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
Happy Reading & Borrowing-

What is Missouri Evergreen?

  • Missouri Evergreen is a 501(c)3 organization providing a resource sharing consortium for over 80 libraries in the state of Missouri.
  • The Consortium helps realize the potential of member libraries through cost-effective resource sharing, cost savings, and member collaboration.
  • Member libraries share a cloud-hosted integrated library system (ILS) called Evergreen, which is open-source software.
    • This allows patrons and staff at member libraries to request books from other member libraries as though they are one big library system.
We are thrilled to join MO Evergreen and can't wait for all of you to experience it!
You can download the app MODiscovery (our library will be listed soon).  This the easiest way to locate the catalog, places holds and access your account.
We are learning too, but we're here to help you learn all the new features!

Orwell's Animal Farm is a timeless allegory of revolution corrupted by power, exposing how ideals of equality can be twisted into oppression through propaganda and fear.
A Streetcar Named Desire (Hardcover Library Edition) by Tennessee Williams
A Streetcar Named Desire (Hardcover Library Edition)
by Tennessee Williams

First published in 1947, 'A Streetcar Named Desire' is an American play by Tennessee Williams, an American playwright, and screenwriter. Along with contemporaries Eugene O'Neill and Arthur Miller, he is considered among the three foremost playwrights of 20th-century American drama. It centers on a desolated woman named Blanche DuBois. Raised in Old South aristocratic traditions, she lived elegantly in the family homestead, married a man she adored, and pursued a career as an English teacher. But her life fell apart when she discovered that her husband, Allen Grey, was having a homosexual affair. Humiliated, he killed himself. Blanche sought comfort in the arms of other men, many men. After she had relations with one of her students, a 17-year-old, authorities learned of the encounter and fired her. Though scarred by her past, Blanche still tries to lead the life of an elegant lady and does her best, even lying when necessary, to keep up appearances. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
The Diary of a Young Girl
by Anne Frank

Writing in a diary is a really strange experience for someone like me. Not only because I've never written anything before, but also because it seems to me that later on neither I nor anyone else will be interested in the musings of a thirteen-year old school girl. Oh well, it doesn't matter. I feel like writing. -Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl is a remarkable first-hand account of the life of a holocaust victim, Anne Frank. A young girl in her teenage, Anne, documented her experiences from 1942 to 1944 during the German occupation of the Netherlands. Living in hiding with her family for these tumultuous years, Anne documents not only the upheaval of the dark times but also the plain and simple emotions and views of a teenage girl. This marvelously rendered account is not only a potent reminder of the horrors of the evils perpetrated by humans but also is a vivid and earnest testimonial of the human spirit. The single most compelling personal account of the Holocaust . . . remains astonishing and excruciating. -The New York Times How brilliantly Anne Frank captures the self-conscious alienation and naïve self-absorption of adolescence. -Newsday
