MAY 2026 | LIBRARY NEWS
Director's Note-

Well, we are (almost) officially through our first month as part of MO Evergreen!  Wow, the last few months have been so busy.  Are you getting the hang of it?  What features do you love?  What do you need help with? We are still learning the ropes too, but we want to make this transition as easy as possible for you.
Behind the scenes, we have been preparing for this change for the last 6 months. After the grant was approved in September, we immediately started working on putting new (14 digit) barcodes on our entire collection-almost 50K items!
Most libraries work on this task during downtime over the course of 12 months, but we did it in 4 months. Partly because we love a good challenge, but mostly because the contract with our (old) ILS vendor was ending and we had a strict deadline to transition.
We also ordered and started issuing new (14 digit) patron cards. This timing worked perfectly to also honor our 125th celebration with brand new library cards.
The library staff have worked their tails off the last 6 months, but it's been worth it.  Not only are we saving a significant amount of money for the library, but we are also opening up a whole new world with resource sharing for our patrons. The best is yet to come!  I can't wait to hear what you think about MO Evergreen.
Additionally, you might have seen some work going on around the building. We are giving the outside windows a much needed scrub and new paint.  It's already looking better and was long overdue!

Happy Reading & Borrowing-

New Card Catalog-

Our new OPAC, or Online public access catalog, is called MO Discovery.  You can search for it in your app store and then look for our library.  Additionally, if you prefer the traditional OPAC interface (like you'd see in the library card catalog), you can save the site to your desktop or homepage for easy access.  Either option will get you to the same place.
You'll login to your account with your card number and PIN (last 4 digits of phone).  From there, you can see what you have checked out or on hold, place holds, renew your books, and see all formats available for an item you are looking for (including the electronic formats).  Our old card catalog was pretty limited, so we are excited for these updates.  We are here if you need help-just ask.

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Catcher in the Rye
by J. D. Salinger

The brilliant, funny, meaningful novel (The New Yorker) that established J. D. Salinger as a leading voice in American literature--and that has instilled in millions of readers around the world a lifelong love of books. If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth. The hero-narrator of The Catcher in the Rye is an ancient child of sixteen, a native New Yorker named Holden Caulfield. Through circumstances that tend to preclude adult, secondhand description, he leaves his prep school in Pennsylvania and goes underground in New York City for three days, grappling with feelings of loneliness, grief, and alienation. His search for something genuine in a world that feels insincere and superficial remains urgent and unmistakably modern. In Holden's comic, cutting, and painfully sincere voice, readers discover a comradeship and understanding as they recognize the ache of being lost, and the impulse toward rebellion that comes with the passage into adulthood. The Catcher in the Rye resonates deeply and personally for every new reader.
